What to expect at your dental appointment

Visiting your dental practice doesn’t have to be something to fear. The whole team in the practice, from receptionist to nurse, from dentist to hygienist want to help and make your visit as easy as possible.

Hopefully we will help answer some questions you may have about your visit to the dental practice.

A Check up

At a dental check up you can expect your dentist to examine your teeth, gums and mouth. As part of this the dentist will ask you about your wider general health as well as about problems you’ve had with your teeth, mouth or gums since your last visit. You can expect questions and advise about your diet, smoking, use of alcohol and oral health regime.

A Hygiene Appointment

Most hygienist appointments are with a Dental Hygienist who specialise in preventative oral care. The number one cause of tooth loss in adults is gum disease and your hygienist will focus on ensuring you keep your natural teeth as long as possible.

The hygienist will ask about your medical history, your diet and your current brushing and/or flossing habits.

What are the payment options?

All practice are able to take cash and debit or credit card payments, including American Express.

Some patients pay for their dental treatment using Dental Insurance plans like those offered by our preferred partner, Dencover.

The importance of the practice having your most up to date details?

As part of our on-going environmental commitments we are looking to reduce the number of letters we send. The dental practice having your most up to date mobile phone number and e-mail address allows us to contact you electronically about any upcoming appointments and any important information about your dental practice and the services they offer.
