Welcome to {my}dentist The Collon, Derry / Londonderry. We are a 4-surgery practice providing a variety of NHS and private plans including facial aesthetics, teeth whitening and Six Month Smiles teeth straightening. We have 7 clinicians within our team with each clinician providing unique treatments through their individual interests such as orthodontics, endodontics and periodontal treatment techniques. For more clinician information head over to the ‘Meet the Team’ section on our website. Our practice is a 2 minute walk from Collon Terrace bus stop and a 47 minute walk from Londonderry train station, with on street parking available. We welcome all patients to our practice and ensure all individuals are treated with the utmost care and attention from our highly skilled staff. We look forward to seeing you soon.

  • Dr.Eldred Julius Qualified from: BChD South Africa, 1999 GDC No: 80091
    Eldred qualified as a dental surgeon at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa in 1999 where he worked in his private practice before moving to the UK more than 15 years ago. He was also involved in the training of Dentists at the University of Stellenbosch before moving to the UK. Eldred has a wealth of experience with a special interest in implants. Eldred has been working for {my}dentist Collon now for several years. He is renowned for his caring and gentle approach and dedication to patient care. Eldred completed a course with Stockport Dental Seminars putting him a unique position to treat patients with TMJD and jaw pain. Eldred enjoys spending time with his children and wife when not at work and enjoy playing golf as a hobby.
  • Dr.Heather Ogilive Qualified from: BDS United Kingdom, 2004 GDC No: 83601
    Heather graduated in Dental Surgery from Queen's University Belfast in 2004 with an honours degree and distinction in 'The Practice of Dentistry', 'Orthodontics', 'Oral Surgery', 'Oral Microbiology', 'Medicine in Dentistry' and 'Paediatrics'. Heather returned to her native Derry and worked in a practice in the waterside area for three years before joining Collon Dental Care in 2007 now {my}dentist, Collon. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, particularly endodontics and dealing with anxious patients and she's happy to provide treatment under the NHS or on a private basis. Outside of work she enjoys films, reading and walking on Donegal beaches.
  • Dr.Jill McDowell Qualified from: BDS United Kingdom, 2004 GDC No: 83597
    Jill qualified from Queens University Belfast, with distinction in the practice of dentistry. Her vocational training year was in a general practice in Montrose, Scotland in 2005. Jill has been working in Derry since 2005 as a General Dental Practitioner, gaining experience in general dentistry on an NHS and private basis. She has a special interest in short term orthodontics, completing training in Six Month Smiles in 2012 and in Quick Straight Teeth in 2015. Jill also gained a certificate in anti-wrinkle treatments - Anti-aging treatments and Dermal Fillers in 2014. She enjoys being a General Dental Practitioner and has a good relationship with a loyal patient base which has grown over the years, with new patients on a weekly basis. Outside of work Jill is a wife, and mother of 3 children. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
  • Dr.Mark Doody Qualified from: BDS United Kingdom, 2014 GDC No: 251130
    Mark Doody graduated from the University of Dundee. Mark provides a high quality of dental care to both his NHS and Private patients. He is currently taking a restorative course under the tutelage of Professor Paul Tipton. This intensive course will aid him in providing full Smile Makeover cases. Mark is trained in anti - wrinkle treatments. He provides all forms of treatments such as Fillings, Root Canal treatment, acrylic, flexible and metal dentures, periodontal treatment and extractions. His patients well being and their satisfaction with the work he has carried out is of paramount importance to Mark.
  • Dr.Sara Mason Qualified from: BDS Manc 2016 manchester , 2016 GDC No: 264518
    Sara graduated from the University of Manchester in 2016 and has been working across both England and Northern Ireland and has gained extensive experience in Private and NHS dental treatment. Sara relocated back home and is working at {my}dentist Foyle. She enjoys travelling and is fascinating to chat to about her experiences across the globe. Sara has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics including dermal fillers and antiwrinkle treatments as well as endodontics (root canal treatment). Sara gets great satisfaction in the amazing results she has seen from her cosmetic treatments and her happy patients. She likes to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in the clinics
  • Ms.Samantha Morrison Qualified from: Dip Dent Hygiene Belfast, 2008 GDC No: 154122
    Samantha joined the team in 2013 and has developed a good relationship with all our dentists. She qualified as a dental hygienist in June 2011 from Queens University. Before this Samantha was a qualified dental nurse in both private and NHS community dentistry. She is very passionate in trying to help our patients to achieve healthy teeth and gums. Samantha achieves this by educating patients in a relaxed environment and by building trust between her and her patients.. Samanthas main area of expertise is cosmetic stain removal along with whitening which she really enjoys. Using our airflow system she can remove the most stubborn stains caused by smoking, tea/coffee and red wine, giving patients a beautiful white smile again.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a fixed solution for missing teeth that are the closest possible replacement for natural teeth. They involve one or more titanium screws being inserted into your jawbone to mimic a natural tooth root. Dental crowns are securely attached to these to fill the gaps in your mouth. Because dental implants are securely anchored in your jaw you’ll have the confidence to comfortably eat whatever you like.

  • Consultation Your initial consultation will be with either our Implant Surgeon or Treatment Coordinator (TCO), who can discuss the different types of implants, single or multiple depending on your need. Following this there may be a need for a more clinical focused consultation.

  • Diagnostic Scans We will carry out a number of digital scans, to build a digital 3D model of your mouth so we can get a clear picture of the area we will place the implant, and a more detailed X-ray using a Cone Beam Computer Tomography scanner so that our Implant surgeon can assess the state of the bone below the gum to get a really clear picture of your treatment need.

  • Treatment Plan Once our experienced implant surgeon has assessed all of you scans they will explain the nature of your treatment, the stages involved and costs. We offer flexible payment options to make implants even more affordable.

  • Commence Treatment Once you are happy we will begin treatment. The length and numbers of appointments will vary depending on the complexity of your particular need, but your Implant Surgeon will have detailed all of this in your treatment plan.

  • Implant Placed Once the implant(s) are placed it may be necessary it might be necessary to allow time for healing before attaching the replacement teeth. Once we are happy the implant has healed we will arrange a series of appointments to fabricate the replacement teeth.

  • Aftercare Your Implant Surgeon will advise you about looking after your implant and may well give you some painkillers to help with the pain over the days after your surgery as well as detailed advice about cleaning the implants and the teeth attached to them.
