Joanne Birdsall Orthodontist Qualified from: MFDS Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh 2006 BChD University of Leeds 2003 GDC No: 82176

Joanne qualified as a dentist in Leeds and gained experience in hospital dentistry across paediatrics, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, and orthodontics. She completed three years of specialist orthodontic training at Eastman Dental Institute and Watford Hospital, earning a Master’s in Orthodontics from UCL. In 2010, she qualified as a specialist orthodontist and was awarded the J K Williams gold medal for top marks nationally. Joanne then trained for two more years to become a hospital consultant, specialising in managing complex orthodontic cases, including jaw surgery, multiple missing teeth, and patients with complex medical needs. She worked at Sheffield Dental Hospital and Rotherham Hospital, treating complex cases and teaching students and orthodontic trainees. Joanne holds leadership roles within the Royal College of Surgeons and the NHS and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. She offers a variety of teeth-straightening treatments for children and adults, including fixed metal braces, Iconix, clear/ceramic brackets, and Invisalign. Joanne accepts both self-referrals and referrals from dental practices. Committed to excellence, she strives to provide the best possible outcomes for her patients. Outside work, she enjoys running and cycling, often riding with her two young daughters in a bike trailer

Ahmed Al-Marashi Implantologist Qualified from: LDS Royal College of Surgeons Of England 2023 GDC No: 311848

Dr. Ahmed Al-Marashi, an Oral Surgeon since 2012, has dedicated his career to dental implantology since 2014. He specialises in direct and indirect sinus augmentation and guided bone regeneration. Known for his communication skills, he provides tailored treatment plans addressing patient's needs. He has impressive academic background, completing his MSc. in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Manchester with Distinction. He's published several research papers in various scientific journals, contributing significantly to the field. His excellent presentation skills and extensive experience in clinical education made him a respected lecturer and mentor in implant courses abroad. Dr. Al-Marashi is a proud member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI), organization dedicated in promoting knowledge about implant dentistry. Saqib Saghir Implantologist Qualified from: BDS Newcastle University 2014 GDC No: 250975

Saqib Saghir qualified as a Dentist from the University of Newcastle in 2014. Anita qualified from Liverpool University in 2016. After completing a years vocational training in Harrogate, she returned to Leeds and joined {my}dentist in 2018. Since qualifying, Anita has passed her part 1 exams for membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons England. Anita has advanced her knowledge with providing high quality dentures as well as teeth straightening with Invisalign, she enjoys the ability to transform smiles. Anita strives to achieve a friendly environment for patients and to take the time to explain treatment options. Outside of work Anita enjoys keeping fit and painting and looking after her miniature dachshund Noah.

Annabel Carnley GDP Qualified from: BChD University of Leeds 2019 GDC No: 283982

Annabel graduated from The University of Leeds in 2019 with a Master's degree in Dental Surgery and a Bachelor's degree in Oral Science. Annabel went on to further her training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Leeds General Infirmary where she worked both in theatre and A&E, gaining unparalleled experience in management of both dental and medical emergencies. Annabel has worked at mydentist in Morley since 2021 and offers general dentistry and teeth straightening with ClearCorrect. Annabel particularly enjoys treating children and strives to create a comfortable environment for all of her patients, especially those who are feeling anxious about their appointments. Outside of dentistry, Annabel also enjoys yoga and pilates and is currently learning Italian. Annabel is partial to a few days in the sun and will often be found on the ski slopes in the winter!

Fay Hope GDP Qualified from: BDS Lond 2003 GDC No: 82545

Fay has worked at the practice since 2008. She graduated in London in 2003. Her first two years were spent working in a practice in Ripon, where she completed her vocational training and part 1 MFGDP exam. The next year was spent working as a senior house office in Maxillo-facial surgery at York hospital. Gaining valuable oral surgery experience and completing her MFDS with the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. In 2006 she travelled to Queensland Australia to work for the state dental service. On returning she joined the team in Morley. In addition to working at the practice she spent several years treating patients in prison. Fay has enjoyed getting to know her NHS patients and working with them to achieve good oral health. She has enjoyed the new challenges of seeing Denplan and private patients.

Lydia Joyce GDP Qualified from: BChD University of Leeds 2022 GDC No: 301676

Lydia qualified from Leeds Dental Institute in 2022 with Distinction, reflecting her academic dedication and clinical ability. She completed her foundation training year in Anglesey, where she was exposed to a wide variety of cases that allowed her to grow significantly as a clinician. Originally from Manchester, Lydia later returned to the “right side of the Pennines” to take on a Dental Core Trainee position in the Maxillofacial Surgery department at York Hospital. This role allowed her to expand her knowledge in medical management, complex oral surgery, and the handling of dental emergencies. During this time, she also successfully passed Part 1 of the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons and plans to sit Part 2 soon. Lydia joined mydentist in September 2024 and has enjoyed forming strong relationships with patients while continuing to broaden her clinical skills. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching reality TV, and planning her next city break.

Mariam's dental career began in 2010, after 5 years of studying she graduated from the Combined Military Hospital University Lahore Pakistan, completing her Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry in 2015.After graduating, Mariam came to the UK to pursue a career in dentistry and joined the mydentist team in 2019. Since then she has been developing keen interests in cosmetic and refining her skills in the area of clear aligner teeth straightening treatment. Her calm and reassuring manner allows nervous patients to feel relaxed and at ease within the dental environment. Mariam has got a passion for dentistry, particularly teeth straightening and composite bonding, and loves nothing more than to make her patient’s dream smiles a reality.

Marta was born in Poland where she qualified as a dentist in 2001. She came over to the UK in 2005. Her first position was within a special care dentistry service in Leeds. She was involved in providing treatment for adults and children with special needs and phobias of the dentist under general and local aneasthetic.Since 2012 she has worked in NHS dentistry. Marta has a mentoring qualification which enables her to pass on her experience to new graduates and overseas dentists. Marta recently completed a course in microneedling and hopes to complete more courses in facial aesthetics so she can provide ant wrinkle treatments and fillers to our patients.In her spare time Marta enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading books and watching movies.

Melinda originally from Kosovo, qualified from the University of Prishtina the capital of Kosovo in 2006. She worked as a dentist in Kosovo before completing her examination and registration to become a qualified dentist in the UK. She moved to Leeds and completed her vocational training in Durham commuting several times a week and then joined the mydentist team in Morley in 2018.She has a keen interest in endodontics. Melinda provides cosmetic dentures through the denture excellence scheme. She is also qualified to provide Six Month Smile short term orthodontics.Melinda enjoys going on holiday and seeing different parts of the world.

Joanne qualified at Leeds Dental Institute in 1992. After a year working in the Leeds area Joanne moved to London working in a private dental practice and found a love for motivating patients to get the best possible oral health. Joanne has been working at the Morley {my}dentist since 1994 and is still seeing many of those original patients. She has an interest in our air-flow stain removal treatment and in house Zoom whitening. She is very passionate about providing her patient with the best oral hygiene care and advises her patients how best to maintain good oral hygiene at home. Joanne is a positive thinker and is a keen baker.

In 2018, Zoë graduated from the University of Central Lancashire in conjunction with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, further enhancing her qualifications and expertise in the field. Zoë now works closely with our specialist orthodontist to ensure every patient journey is smooth, efficient, and positive.
