Dr.Alexandra Armstrong

Alex qualified from Leeds Dental School in 2004. She returned to her native North East to do her Vocational Training year in Darlington, joining {my}dentist Southwick in 2005 after completing this. Alex works three days a week providing evening and early morning appointments.
She thoroughly enjoys providing NHS dental services to her many patients, alongside private options, such as tooth whitening and white coloured fillings for back teeth.
Although Alex enjoys all of her work as a dentist, and in particular, building relationships with her patients, she has a passion for helping nervous people to conquer any anxieties they may have about visiting the dentist. She has found it rewarding on many occasions to guide anxious patients through the treatment that they require.

Dr.Anitha Josy

Dr Anitha Josy finished her BDS from Rajiv Ghandi University Banglore India. She acquired her GDC registration in 2020 which enabled her to work as a dentist in the UK and then joined {my}dentist. Dr Josy finished her PVLE training with {my}dentist and ever since has been working in our Southwick and Whitburn practices. She works 3 days a week and mostly treats NHS patients doing restorations to teeth, extractions and other extensive dental treatments which she thoroughly enjoys and in particular enjoys treating children. She also enjoys offering private treatments such as tooth whitening and private tooth restorations.
Dr Josy is a very friendly dentist who strives to improve her clinical skill and update knowledge by attending courses and workshops she has a very outgoing personality and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Dr.Asad Shah

Dr Asad Shah is originally from Leeds, he qualified from Medical University Plovdiv (Bulgaria) in 2022 where he received extensive training in a variety of dental procedures. Asad has joined the team at {my}dentist Southwick and enjoys providing all aspects of general dentistry, with a special focus on restorative, prosthetic and cosmetic dentistry. He is passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in dental technology and techniques and he regularly attends dental conferences and continuing education courses to ensure that his patients receive the best possible care.
As a dentist, Asad is known for his friendly and compassionate approach, he takes the time to listen to his patient's concerns and works closely with them to develop personalised treatment plans that meet their unique needs.
In his free time, he enjoys playing football, travelling, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr.Chantej Bedi

Chantej is a caring and enthusiastic dentist, who continuously strives to provide the best dental care he can. He graduated from Surendra Dental College, India in 2012, and completed a Masters’ degree in Prosthodontics from NIMS University, India in 2015. He relocated to UK in 2016 and after working as a dental nurse for 2.5 years, he passed the GDC Statutory exam in 2019 and got licensed to practice as a general dentist in UK. He regularly takes up multiple short courses, allowing him to strengthen his knowledge and clinical skills, and expand on the services he can offer to his clients. Tej, as we call him, enjoys providing treatments involving dentures and crowns. He is currently pursuing a PG Certificate in Implant dentistry by Tipton Training Institution, Manchester. He also provides ClearCorrect teeth straightening and composite bonding. In addition to a strong emphasis on clinical work, Tej regularly reviews evidence behind new treatments to ensure his patients receive the best possible care. His treatment philosophy is centered on putting patients needs at the forefront. He takes time and effort to ensure that patients feel comfortable in the dental chair. He has a reputation of being diligent empathetic and personable.

Dr.Christopher Michael Regan

Chris is originally from Bolton, Greater Manchester and graduated from Newcastle University Dental School in 2008. After completing his vocational training year with the practice, has been a member of the {my}dentist Southwick team ever since. He enjoys the atmosphere of such a large busy practice, working hard to provide his patients with the best possible care.
Alongside the full range of NHS options, Chris is also pleased to offer private treatments such as white tooth coloured fillings and Denture Excellence: - a brand of private cosmetic dentures.
Chris offers regular evening appointments and daily toothache slots to help as many patients receive the best care.

Dr.Hasan Merie

Dr Merie is an experienced, skilled dentist in restorative dentistry. With more than a decade experience in general dentistry and enjoys doing both as well as teaching dentistry. Dr Merie qualified (BDS) from the University of Mosul, Iraq in 2009 with honors in the 2nd place. After finishing his vocational training, he worked as a general dental practitioner and as a clinical teaching fellow at the same university.
In 2012, Dr Merie relocated to the UK to do a Master degree (MSc) in restorative dental materials at the University of Sheffield. In 2014, gained the degree with distinction. He was awarded a scholarship in 2016 to conduct a Doctorate degree (PhD) in restorative dentistry at Newcastle University. During his PhD study, completed LDC which is the oldest continuously existing dental qualification in the UK, awarded by the RCS and is also teaching at Leeds University in the restorative department. Since then Dr Merie joined the team at {my}dentist providing a wide range of private treatments. He goes above and beyond his abilities to ensure that patients feel comfortable and receive the best possible care.
In his spare time He enjoys travelling and exploring the world.

Dr.Jenny Reilly (Bloxham)

Jenny qualified from Sheffield University Dental School in 2000 and completed her vocational training year in Manchester. She has lived and worked in the North East of England since 2001.
After working in several practices she initially began working for {my}dentist, Southwick in 2006 and has since returned having spent four years living and working in Oman. Jenny enjoy all aspects of dentistry and treating all ages of patients from children right up to her more mature patients.
Alongside the full range of NHS treatment options, she is happy to offer many private, cosmetic treatments in order to provide her patients with the best possible care.

Dr.Lee Wright

Lee qualified from Newcastle University in 2003 and has worked at Southwick since 2004. Lee has a large patient base and works at the surgery on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and offers late night and Saturday appointments. He feels that it is important to constantly improve and update his skills and has developed his knowledge and understanding in order to treat dentally anxious, nervous and phobic patients using sedation techniques. Recognising that people want to hold onto their teeth for as long as possible, he has obtained a post graduate certificate in Contemporary Restorative Aesthetic Dentistry from the Dominic Hassle Training Institute in Birmingham. Lee provides NHS and private treatments such as facial aesthetics, denture excellence, ceramic crowns and bridges, white fillings and he is currently providing Invisalign Go- a clear aligner used to straighten teeth without the need for fixed wires.

Dr.Matthew Arnold

Matthew was Born in Northern Ireland and moved over to the North East of England in 2004 to study dentistry where he has stayed ever since. He qualified with a merit in Clinical Dentistry and has since taken further training in educating young dentists and treating nervous patients.
Matthew finds it very rewarding to help anxious patients, helping patients to get over their dental fears. He completed his core sedation training in 2010, and has since completed his Diploma in Conscious Sedation in 2017. He is one of only 20 candidates in the UK to be accepted to undertake this training each year. He has experience in sedating in the excess of 1000 patients. He has also completed Denture Excellence training, and enjoys replacing missing teeth with removable, flexible dentures as an alternative to dental implants.

Dr.Paul Benjamin Towndrow

Ben Towndrow qualified from Newcastle university in 2002 with a BDS Hons. After completing his vocational training year he joined {my}dentist Southwick and has been here since. In 2008 he completed additional training in conscious sedation and has developed this interest ever since. Ben enjoys all aspects of NHS dentistry as well as private dental treatments and also does a full day each week treating nervous adults and children with inhalational and intravenous sedation techniques.
Ben very much enjoys working in this large vibrant practice and being part of a big happy team that works hard to deliver the best care to the patients that we can.

Zinab graduated from Newcastle University Dental School in 2019. She then went on to complete the MFDS qualification with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2021. Analisa started her dental career in 2005 working as a Dental Nurse. She then wanted to further her career in dentistry so Dental Hygiene and Therapy was the route she took.
In 2010 she graduated from Newcastle University with a Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy and has since then worked in both mixed NHS and private dental practices.
Analisa joined {my}dentist in 2020 and is now carrying out a mix of both NHS therapy work and private hygiene services.
In her spare time Analisa likes to try and keep fit, shop and spend quality time with her family and friends. Analisa also loves to travel.

Mrs.Rebecca Haswell

Rebecca originally started her dental career as a Dental Nurse in 2001, and went on to graduate from Leeds Dental School in Dental Hygiene and Therapy in 2011. She gained a qualification in Inhalation Sedation in 2012 and then worked many years for the community dental service in Birmingham treating medically compromised and anxious patients. Her aim is to create positive dental experiences, especially with children. Rebecca moved back to Sunderland and trained in facial aesthetics in 2018 allowing her to provide dermal fillers, anti-wrinkle and rejuvenation treatments safely, along side her dental, hygiene and sedation services on the NHS and privately. She has worked at our Southwick clinic since 2021 and in her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, walking her sausage dogs and keeping fit.

Ms.Angela Lee-Hudson

Angi is our friendly Dental Hygienist and has been part of the dental team since qualifying at Newcastle Dental Hospital back in 2002. Her people skills are second to none when it comes to putting anxious patients at ease. She loves putting a smile on people’s faces and adds her own magic throughout treatments on a daily basis which patients enjoy and never think twice about returning.
She believes “it’s not only about getting the treatment completed, it’s about creating a positive journey with the patient”.
Angi is a long standing and well-loved member of the dental team at {my}dentist Southwick Sunderland .
