Going into my 4th year as CEO I am proud of the significant progress we have made in an ever changing environment.
It’s a pleasure to present our group’s annual review for the 2016 year and to report another successful year of growth and development for our group.
In patient services, this year has been about the continued rollout of the mydentist brand across our estate, the rollout has allowed us to start to leverage our national footprint of over 670 practices and support the education of oral health through national media, events and localised activity.
As the largest UK dental corporate, we recognise we have a responsibility to educate patients on the benefits of visiting the dentist regularly and preventive dental care.
It’s been very important to ensure we segment our key propositions of NHS and private dentistry + orthodontic centres, therefore offering a clear identity that patients understand and identify with, whilst sitting under the umbrella of the mydentist brand. Clearly our NHS practices represent the largest part of our estate and hence have been the priority. We are constantly looking to improve our service to our patients through additional treatment propositions, improved access, and improved website and on line booking service.
In practice services, we continue to make good progress on a number of significant changes across this division. The majority of the patient services division’s materials and consumables supplies are now supplied by The Dental Directory, which together with engineering and training services, now makes the group vertically integrated and is delivering significant cost savings and synergies. The senior management team continues to drive changes to our product ranges and services and the marketing to our customers as well as building strong relationship with suppliers. As a result of changes to the existing businesses and new business acquisitions I continue to be very optimistic about the future.
With all these initiatives, the group remains well placed to achieve ongoing economies of scale which result from the size of the group. The benefits can be provided both to our practices as well as the practice services’ third party customers.
Finally, on behalf of the board, I would like to thank everyone across the group for their continued commitment and passion during a year that marks a further successful step in the overall transformation and development of the group.
