Dr.Bethan Lewis

Bethan qualified as a dental surgeon in 1998 (University of Bristol). After 1 year in general practice and 3 years in various Hospitals she qualified as a Specialist in Orthodontics in 2005 (Cardiff University).
In 2005, Bethan started work as a specialist orthodontist in Bristol until joining us at 'The Orthodontic Centre' in Pontprennau. She treated both NHS and private patients and has a great deal of experience treating both children and adults. She now has over 10 years’ experience carrying out a variety of orthodontic treatments including silver and tooth coloured fixed braces (on the front of teeth), Incognito fixed braces (on the back of teeth) and also the Invisalign system (clear plastic aligners). She is passionate about her work and the quality of her treatment.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her two young children. Her interests include running, swimming and cycling.

Dr.Emma Henley
(Orthodontist)

Emma graduated from the University of Dundee in 2002 and worked as a Vocational Trainee in Blairgowrie, Scotland for a year. Following this Emma worked as a Community Dental Officer in Aberdeen, followed by Senior House Officer posts in Paediatrics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative and Oral Medicine in Dundee, Liverpool and Manchester. Emma gained her MFDS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. She completed her Orthodontic Specialist training in Cardiff where she was presented with a distinction for her MScD and she gained her Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2010.
Most of Emma’s spare time is spent with her young family. Otherwise she will be training for her next triathlon, sailing or surfing with her friends and family. But, she might do another marathon for charity.
Having spent the last nine years providing NHS and private orthodontic treatment to a mixture of children and adults in England and Scotland Emma still gets great satisfaction from a wonderful orthodontic result.

Dr.Tomos Crandon
(Orthodontist)

Specialist Orthodontist (GDC 80792) Tomos qualified in dentistry at Cardiff in 2002 and gained a diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007. After a variety of hospital posts, including paediatric dentistry, maxillofacial surgery and then five years in dental practice, Tomos began his 3 year specialist orthodontic training in 2008, where he gained a distinction in his Masters in Research and his Membership in Orthodontics in Edinburgh. He is registered with the General Dental Council as a specialist in orthodontics. He is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, the European Orthodontic Society and the British Lingual Orthodontic Society. Tomos has a special interest in cosmetic orthodontics and is a registered ‘incognito’ practitioner.
Outside of work Tom is renovating a farm in the Vale of Glamorgan and enjoys spending time with his partner and his horse ‘Paddy’

Miss.Rainer Edwards
(Orthodontic Therapists)

Having worked as a Dental Surgery Assistant for 10 years in a general dental practice, Rainer joined The Orthodontic Centre in 2000. She then successfully undertook her general dental nursing and orthodontic nursing qualifications, before then gaining certification in the taking of impressions and dental radiography. The opportunity then arose to train as an Orthodontic Therapist, and Rainer qualified in 2010 from the Royal College of Surgeons (England). Rainer loves this role, as she thrives on making a tangible difference to the confidence of her patients.
In her spare time, Rainer is a proud and supportive mum to her daughter, as well as finding time for home renovations and long walks with her bulldog.

Mrs .Nicola Engstrom
(Orthodontic Therapists)

Nicola’s career in dentistry began in 1997 when she began her general dental nurse training. She qualified in April 1999 and went on to work in a general dental practice until December 2003. She left this position when the opportunity arose to join The Orthodontic Centre, which she did in the following January. Nicola then obtained her dental radiography certification, and qualified as an orthodontic nurse in December 2006.
In October 2008, Nicola and her husband left the UK for a working holiday in Australia. She worked for seven months in a general dental practice in Sydney. In January 2010 she returned to the Orthodontic Centre and commenced the orthodontic therapist course, which she graduated in November 2011, becoming a qualified Orthodontic Therapist.
Nicola enjoys her work as a therapist and loves getting to see the positive changes to a patients’ smile, throughout the course of their treatment.

Ms.Hayley Aggett

Hayley Aggett embarked in the world of dentistry when she was just 17 years old as a dental nurse in a busy general NHS and Private practice in Swansea. She achieved the National Diploma in Dental Nursing in 2010 and progressed to Head dental nurse in the Swansea Orthodontic Centre. While working as a dental nurse she developed an interest in furthering her career to a more hands on role, and so secured herself a place in Warwick University to study for a Diploma in Orthodontic Therapy. Hayley graduated as an Orthodontic Therapist in 2020 and is now a valuable member of the team at the Cardiff Orthodontic Centre.
Hayley enjoys keeping fit by training regularly in the gym and taking long walks with her dog called Button.
