What our patients say

  • Google 5 out of 5

"Went here many moons ago when I was a wee teenager. Teeth have held position remarkably well over more than a decade. However I did spot that one was on the move and my retainer met it’s end a long time ago. As such I’ve recently been back for a new one and the service has been second to none. The receptionist Sarah is so lovely and very knowledgeable. I was preparing for a bit of a hit in the pocket but I was very pleasantly surprised to be told that a replacement retainer was only £100 (per jaw), including the two appointments, scan, mould etc. That’s really good value in my opinion knowing what my actual dentist charges for other treatments. The orthodontists are all lovely. They retained my records (and we had a good laugh at my old pictures). Super efficient. In and out at both appointments and all done and dusted in just over a week. Top quality retainer too. Fab! Thank you so much!"

Ortho Options - For a confident smile
Under 18's braces

It’s common for orthodontic treatment to begin in the teenage years, once all or most of the permanent teeth have come through. At that point it becomes clear whether someone might have dental concerns such as significant crowding, an over or underbite, or difficulty biting the teeth together which might affect eating or properly cleaning the teeth.

In cases where these issues are significant, braces will be available on the NHS. They assess who will receive braces according to a scoring system called the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need, or IOTN score.

Some teens may not meet the IOTN score, in which case the NHS treatment is not available, or the waiting list in their area may be very long meaning they are unable to start treatment quickly. That is why we have a range of affordable private orthodontic treatments available for teenagers.

Orthodontic treatments for teens

With our Ortho Options, we can provide a huge choice in private orthodontic treatment for teenagers, suitable for a wide range of budgets.

To see if it’s right for you or your teenager, you’ll first have an assessment with one of our team who will explain the different treatments, what is involved and our finance options*. There are no long waiting lists, so if you are keen to go ahead we can book an appointment to see an orthodontist without delay and begin the treatment journey.

  • Metal
    fixed braces

Metal fixed appliances consist of small metal brackets attached to the teeth with a wire tied into the brackets. The wires are then used to move the teeth into the desired position giving the orthodontist control over the tooth movements. The ties can be coloured giving you the option to customise the brace.

  • Ceramic
    fixed braces

Ceramic fixed braces are more discreet than metal braces and consist of small tooth coloured brackets attached to the teeth with a wire tied into the brackets. The wires are then used to move the teeth into the desired position giving the orthodontist control over the tooth movements.

  • Clear

Clear aligners offer a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of clear, customised removable aligners that fit snugly over your teeth. Advanced technology allows you to visualise your completed treatment. This is a great option for those wanting a more discreet, wire free treatment.

  • Invisalign
    clear aligners

    Invisalign teen clear aligners

Getting the smile you love shouldn't be awkward. Invisalign clear aligners are made from SmartTrack material, so they are more comfortable and easier to put on and take off. You get a customized treatment based on years of research and intelligence from millions of patients. Convenient clear aligners that are the right fit for you.

Why choose Ortho Options

  • 1.Teeth straightening treatment provided for under 18s that don’t qualify for NHS treatment
  • 2.Assessment with a treatment co-ordinator who’ll explain how it works
  • 3.If you do decide to proceed with treatment, another appointment will be arranged with the orthodontist, so we can take pre-treatment records, which include models of your teeth, x-rays and photographs for a more detailed assessment and a final treatment plan.
