Welcome to {my}orthodontist, Cedar House, an Orthodontic Specialist in Worthing. We provide the highest quality of Orthodontic care in a warm, welcoming environment. We have 2 Orthodontic Specialists and 3 Therapists with years of experience. You can find us in Cedar House on Chapel Road opposite the Worthing Museum and Art Gallery. Unfortunately, we do not have any on-site parking however there is an NCP Pay and Display within a 5-minute walk. There is ample public transport in the area with Worthing Train Station less than 10 minutes away and a bus stop located opposite the practice outside the museum. Whether you are teenager looking to correct crooked teeth or and adult who is looking to perfect their smile, we offer a wide range of treatments to suit your needs, from both NHS and Private treatments. From Invisalign, to fixed braces that includes stainless steel, Iconix (champagne colour) or a more discreet white ceramic. We also offer hygiene appointments and teeth whitening.     "Went here many moons ago when I was a wee teenager. Teeth have held position remarkably well over more than a decade. However I did spot that one was on the move and my retainer met it’s end a long time ago. As such I’ve recently been back for a new one and the service has been second to none. The receptionist Sarah is so lovely and very knowledgeable. I was preparing for a bit of a hit in the pocket but I was very pleasantly surprised to be told that a replacement retainer was only £100 (per jaw), including the two appointments, scan, mould etc. That’s really good value in my opinion knowing what my actual dentist charges for other treatments. The orthodontists are all lovely. They retained my records (and we had a good laugh at my old pictures). Super efficient. In and out at both appointments and all done and dusted in just over a week. Top quality retainer too. Fab! Thank you so much!"

Under 18's braces

It’s common for orthodontic treatment to begin in the teenage years, once all or most of the permanent teeth have come through. At that point it becomes clear whether someone might have dental concerns such as significant crowding, an over or underbite, or difficulty biting the teeth together which might affect eating or properly cleaning the teeth.

In cases where these issues are significant, braces will be available on the NHS. They assess who will receive braces according to a scoring system called the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need, or IOTN score.

Some teens may not meet the IOTN score, in which case the NHS treatment is not available, or the waiting list in their area may be very long meaning they are unable to start treatment quickly. That is why we have a range of affordable private orthodontic treatments available for teenagers.

    Metal fixed appliances consist of small metal brackets attached to the teeth with a wire tied into the brackets. The wires are then used to move the teeth into the desired position giving the orthodontist control over the tooth movements. The ties can be coloured giving you the option to customise the brace.

    Iconix braces are a sophisticated and elegant alternative to traditional braces. These braces are made of stainless-steel champagne-coloured brackets that provide aesthetics of rose gold attached to the teeth with a wire tied into the brackets. The wires are then used to move the teeth into the desired position giving the orthodontist control over the tooth movements.

    Clear aligners offer a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth using a series of clear, customised removable aligners that fit snugly over your teeth.   • Dr.Bushra Ahmad (Orthodontist) Qualified from: MOrth Royal College of Surgeons Of England 2006, MSc Orth Lond 2006, MFDS Royal College of Surgeons Of England 2002, BDS Lond 1999 England, 2006 GDC No: 76519
    Bushra qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1999 from Guys Kings and St.Thomas's Dental Institute. This was followed by a series of specialist hospital posts in Maxillo-facial Surgery and Paediatric dentistry. During this time Bushra gained her Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England . She completed her specialist orthodontic training in 2006 obtaining a Masters in Orthodontics as well as Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons . Bushra is on the specialist list with the General Dental Council as well as a member of the Specialist practitioner group of the British Orthodontic Society. Her ethos is based on providing high quality orthodontic treatment centred on patient care and comfort. This is delivered using a wide range of braces including cosmetic appliances as well as "invisible" lingual appliances. Outside work Bushra is a busy mum of three young children but also enjoys cooking and travelling.

    Robert qualified from University College Hospital, London in 1984. He spent six years in general practice both as an associate and a principal. He left practice to complete various hospital positions before starting his Orthodontic training at Liverpool Dental Hospital. After qualifying in 1998 he worked in Hospital and practice prior to setting up our Orthodontic practice in Worthing. His clinical expertise combines cosmetic adult and functional orthodontic treatments to deliver optimal results in the quickest time. Robert has a real passion for overall patient need. He is particularly motivated towards cosmetic orthodontics where we provide all forms of cosmetic appliances including Incognito ( Lingual) and Invisalign braces (removable aligners). Robert can also offer home whitening to compliment your smile., Robert proudly holds memberships in the World Federation of Orthodontists. American Association of Orthodontists, British Orthodontic Society and the British Dental association.
  • Ms.Rowena Self (Therapist) Qualified from: NVQ,Dent Nursing,Dip Orth Ther United Kingdom, 2009 GDC No: 181746
    Rowena had orthodontics at the practice as a teenager and was so intrigued by the process,she handed in her CV the day her brace was removed. Since joining the practice in 2006 she has continually developed her skills and qualified as an orthodontic therapist in 2012. Rowena’s favourite thing about being an Orthodontic therapist is seeing the transformation a beautiful smile can make to someone’s confidence. Brace off days are the best! In her spare time Rowena loves to travel,especially if it involves animals. Her recent trips have included volunteering with rescued elephants in the mountains of Thailand and searching for sloths in the jungles of Costa Rica!

    Nikki joined the Dental Team in 2010 and has been an intergral member of the team helping to provide the high standard of care experience at {my}orthodontist Worthing. She undertook her dental nurse training, Radiograph diploma and specialist in Orthodontic Nursing over six years practice. Nikki then started her Orthodontic Therapy training in 2017 and graduated from The Royal College Of Surgeons Edinburgh August 2018. She enjoys providing a sensitive and informed treatment to both adults and teenagers and has a passion to give you the fantastic smile you always wanted. When not in work Nikki loves to enter race events to raise money for different charities, spending time with her family, going on trips or relaxing with a good book.
