Welcome to {my}dentist South Street, Gosport. We are a friendly 6-surgery practice with 6 dentists on hand to provide a variety of NHS and Private treatment and {my}dentist maintenance plan. These include dentures, take home teeth whitening, clear correct aligners, composite bonding and all aspects of dental treatments. In addition to our dentists we have our hygienist, Karen and our hygienist & therapist Karina. Centrally located in the town centre, our practice is a 2 minute walk from the Creek Road bus stop and a short walk from Gosport Ferry with links to Portsmouth. Parking for the practice is available either on the road or at the pay and display car park, opposite the practice. If you have any questions or would like to book in for a consultation the team would love to hear from you. We welcome all patients to our practice and ensure all individuals are treated with the utmost care and attention from our highly skilled staff. We look forward to seeing you soon.

"My dentist made me a new denture which I’m very pleased with. I had a check up on November 2nd 2021 which was very thorough and he advised me to see a Hygienist which I will do , he examined my mouth to ensure that it was healthy. The nurses and receptionists were also very professional, I was allowed to wait in the reception area in order to book and wait for a taxi which was very pleasing"

"Had tooth pain and swelling, turned out to be an abscess as my tooth was cracked. My visit was an emergency appointment through 111, can't fault the service (111). The professionalism, welcoming nature of everyone on site made for a pleasant visit. The dentist I saw personally was a lovely guy called Brendan, very personable person, professional, walked me through all the options available to me. Not a all judgemental about my situation, understanding of my needs, I needed a abscess to be drain a I decided that in the long run that an extraction was the best option for me. I would definitely be happy to return again, if I could become a patient here I'd be even happier. With my experience in mind it's no wonder they don't have spaces! A wonderful experience at a time of need."

"I havent been to the dentist in nearly 7yrs (yes bad i know), and I built up such a fear of the dentist, but knew I needed to go due to various reasons. The dentist Mr Stephenson was extremely patient and understanding with me and explained everything to me without any judgement. I was in the room for nearly an hour and I felt I was getting genuine attention rather than just a quick look, next patient. I feel a lot more at ease :) thank you"

He really took time to explain all the possibilities for dealing with it, and was very patient with my questions. Dr .Bimal Chandra Darlami Magar Qualified from: Statutory Exam, BDS Nepal, 2012 GDC No: 301389

Dr Bimal Magar obtained his degree in Nepal in 2012. He relocated to the United Kingdom in 2017 and joined the {my}dentist Gosport practice in 2022. Since then Bimal has been providing comprehensive general dentistry services including teeth whitening at home using both the Enlighten whitening system and Phillips Zoom, crowns, aesthetic dentures, tooth-coloured fillings and root canal treatments. As well as offering NHS dentistry, where capacity allows, Bimal enjoys offering dental treatment through our affordable private system as well as the {my}dentist plan for routine maintenance appointments. Outside of dentistry Bimal enjoys music regularly playing the guitar and singing.
Dr.Aruna Thapa Qualified from: Manipal India, 2002 GDC No: 246002

Dr Aruna Thapa graduated from the Manipal academy of higher education, India in 2002. Aruna worked as an intern in a Dental hospital, participated in free dental camps and practiced general dentistry in Nepal. She passed her Licence in Dental Surgery from Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2013. Aruna enjoys all aspects of dentistry and especially enjoys providing teeth whitening, crowns and bridges and aesthetic dentures. Aruna is also interested in clear aligner treatment and am looking to be able to offer this in 2024. Aruna has been working for {my}dentist Gosport as an associate dentist since 2014.

Brendon Stephenson B.Ch.D CHP MDCH PGcertMedEd Brendon strives for clinical excellence in the patient’s best interests in a caring, safe and professional environment. In addition to general dentistry Brendon has a special interest in preventative dentistry, tooth whitening, aesthetic restorations, endodontics and helping people to become less anxious about dentistry. Brendon has been a dentist for over 25 years and has worked as an educational supervisor supporting new and oversees dentists. Brendon works with a wonderful dental team which helps make this a warm, friendly, safe and professional clinical environment. Dr.Jessica Patel-Barnes Qualified from: BDS Manc, 2006 GDC No: 103237

Dr Jessica Patel-Barnes qualified from the University of Manchester in 2006 and has spent her career working in the South Coast of Hampshire for various independent practices prior to deciding to work with {my}dentist in 2010. In 2014, she became a Clinical Manager for the company and now works alongside her clinical duties in supporting dentists in 33 of our practices across the South East of England to develop, reflect and progress with their careers. Jessica has a loyal patient base at the practice some of whom she has been treating since she first qualified and prides herself on ethical quality patient focused family care. She carries out all aspects of General Dentistry with a particular interest in whole mouth rehabilitation plans with bridges, dentures and crowns with a personal interest in cosmetic care involving smile designs and whitening. Jessica has recently began offering straightening using a clear aligner system and is looking forward to supporting patients with a different aspect of their dental care!
Dr.Prawash Sunuwar Qualified from: BDS B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Statutory Exam 2016 Nepal, 2013 GDC No: 262960

Dr Prawash joined {my}dentist in 2018. Originally from Nepal he came to UK to join his father who worked for the British army. With previous experience as a private dentist, he joined the practice to complete his vocational training to work for the NHS. Prawash has a keen interest in providing root canal treatment as well as restorative treatments such as crowns, bridge and dentures. He also performs cosmetic tooth whitening procedures and short term orthodontic using clearcorrect aligners. He believes in continuing education and has recently completed a postgraduate certificate in endodontics from the University of Chester. Mrs.Karen Beavon Qualified from: CEB Dip Dent Hygiene United Kingdom, 1994 GDC No: 4630

Karen Beavon has worked in dentistry since 1982 when she started as a dental nurse. Karen qualified as a hygienist in 1994 and then as a therapist in 2002. Karen has chosen to work solely as a hygienist as this is the role she enjoys the most. Karen feels that it is not just about cleaning teeth but also education and advice on periodontal disease, gingivitis, the role of bacteria in the mouth and the importance of a good daily oral hygiene routine so that patients can maintain a healthy mouth. A lot of Karen's patients will hear her say "it’s not rocket science", “homework is the key” and “its 10 minutes tops out of your day”.

Whitening Experience

Toni feels that she has always been blessed with fairly straight teeth that were also quite white but had noticed a gradual yellowing over time. This became more apparent whilst laughing at a joke with her hairdresser. After researching whitening products and talking with friends and family that had purchased whitening products, they had all experienced sensitivity as a side effect. At her most recent examination she decided to ask her dentist about whitening.

At my most recent check up she talked me through a couple of options, and I liked the sound of the Enlighten programme. She explained what was involved and that there should be no sensitivity. Win, win!. After one week, I thought I could notice a difference, but after two weeks, I definitely could. Friends and colleagues did not ask me directly if I had had my teeth whitened, but they told me I was looking good or looking well. After Jess applied the final treatment after two weeks, the overall effect was stunning. I couldn't be more pleased and I can honestly say, hand on heart, there is no sensitivity. I am looking forward to my next hairdresser appointment and looking in the mirror as I laugh at one of her jokes!!

Teeth Straightening Experience

Sharon had been unhappy about how her teeth looked for a long time and had seen how happy her friends were after undergoing teeth straightening treatment. She plucked up the courage to speak to her dentist about her options at her next dental examination.

I had been unhappy and very self-conscious about my teeth, well, one tooth in particular, for years. I knew 2 people who had successfully straightened their teeth and were happy with the results, which is what made me pluck up the courage to ask about it. The process was straightforward, and Jess kept in regular contact to check everything was OK. Wearing the aligners worried me a bit at the beginning, but I didn’t take long to adjust. I feel that this has been a good investment of my time, effort and money as I now feel so much better about my appearance. I’m so pleased with the outcome I can’t tell you. I wish I had been able to do it years ago. My advice to anyone who is self-conscious or unhappy about how your teeth look, you really won’t regret it. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

My Aligner Journey

As a teenager Amanda tried unsuccessful teeth straightening with traditional ill-fitting metal and plastic braces which impacted on her speech. She would only wear them at night so needless to say they had no impact, and her previous dentist gave up on her. Amanda spent years not showing her teeth when she smiled because of 1 twisted front tooth which seemed to be the focus of any photographs she appeared in making it look like the tooth next to it was missing. The twisted tooth cut into her lip. Her bottom teeth were very crooked but didn't bother her as much. She inquired about teeth straightening in her early 30s, but the dentist wanted to extract teeth and charge the same as she has just paid for ClearCorrect. Amanda did not want to lose anymore teeth and therefore carried on for another 30 years wishing she had straighter teeth.

I’d spoken with my lovely dentist about straightening my teeth but thought at 63, I was too old. When I was called and told they had started offering clearcorrect, it sounded so realistic and manageable, I went to find out more. The process was so simple I don't know what I'd been so worried about! The worst part was the short wait for the aligners to arrive. I was very excited about it by this stage! I noticed gradual movement from the second aligner. I must admit I cried when my middle two teeth began to look normal, it was amazing. I can't believe how confident I feel now about smiling and letting my teeth be seen! Thanks to my lovely dentist and dental nurse who encouraged me at every step. I can enjoy having photos taken where I'm smiling, and my teeth are showing. I am so happy.

Teeth Straightening

Zora had not liked the look of her teeth from a young age however the idea of braces put her off due to the metal work on show. This however did not stop her wondering what it would be like to have straight teeth and a beautiful smile. After seeing adverts for clear aligners, she thought this could be her chance to have nice teeth. Zora had spent about 20 years thinking about having her teeth straightened.

I am so happy I decided to straighten my teeth. I had concerns about how the blocks were put on, how visible they would be and how the gaps where made so my teeth could move correctly but Jess put me at ease explaining each step. I feel more confident and comfortable when smiling. I feel I look after my teeth better because of how they now look. I now have that beautiful smile I always wanted. I had a bit of discomfort the first few days during some aligner changes, but I would take paracetamol and it would pass quickly. I would say if you are thinking of having your teeth straightened and want something discreet and affordable this is for you. I also loved that you can see your teeth straightening journey on the screen before you start so you know what your teeth will look like.
