Welcome to {my}dentist Winsford, based in the heart of Cheshire. Our state-of-the-art 14 surgery practice is located in Winsford Cross Shopping Centre by the A54. We are accessible for all with our surgeries all on the ground floor, a free multi-storey car park on our doorstep, and a 5-minute walk from the nearest bus stop. Our clinicians undertake NHS and private dentistry, whether through our private {my}options programme or monthly plan from Denplan. We tailor your experience to your personal circumstances; nervous patients rest assured! We want to help you achieve your dream smile, offering treatment for dental implants, teeth straightening with Clearcorrect and Invisalign clear aligners, braces, teeth whitening, veneers, aesthetics, endodontics and more. We are equipped with the latest technology; our teams use precise 3D digital planning for your treatment through use of our CBCT, OPG, and Intra-oral scanners. Our Treatment Co-ordinators, Chris and Lauren, work on-site and offer free consultations and payment options for your treatment plan, including finance.   • Dr.Ainsley Smith Qualified from: BDS Manc, United Kingdom, 2004 GDC No: 83527
    Ainsley, our lead clinician, graduated from the University of Manchester in 2004, working in Sandbach before joining Winsford in 2013. Ainsley furthered his skills in 2013 with a PGCert in Restorative Dentistry from Tipton Training and in 2015 with a MSc (distinction) in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry from the University of Manchester. He is studying PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Clinical Practice at Edge Hill University. Ainsley trains graduate Therapists and Dentists and works as an Educational Supervisor for Dental Therapists. He is an Honorary Tutor at the University of Manchester Dental Hospital, assisting in the education of post-graduate Dentists. Ainsley utilises the professionals in Winsford to assist patients in their long term care for their oral health. As a restorative dentist, Ainsley helps stabilise oral health to ensure suitability for complex restorative care. He enjoys providing high-quality denture work and advanced tooth wear cases which make significant improvements to patients’ quality of life. In 2023, Ainsley began providing Clearcorrect clear aligners to patients wanting teeth straightening treatment. Outside of work, Ainsley enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 children. He enjoys hill walking and climbing, though to relax he enjoys learning about space physics and cosmology.
  • Dr.Ayah Sadek Qualified from: BDS United Kingdom, 2022 GDC No: 302468
    Ayah was born and raised in Manchester from Iraqi heritage, though decided to attend the University of Birmingham to study dentistry, graduating in July 2022. Ayah worked in Southport before joining the team here in Winsford in September 2023 where she enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, especially root fillings and restorative work. Ayah has a very calm style of dentistry, ensuring that even the most anxious of patients are happy and given the time and information to fully understand their treatment options. Ayah also offers teeth whitening for patients who wish to brighten their smile using Philips Zoom and premium teeth whitening with Enlighten. Outside of work, whilst she does love to travel, Ayah is at home when in the company of her friends and family whom she often bakes for; she claims she is 'known for her cookies and brownies!'
  • Dr.Bhawika Nana Qualified from: BDS University of Manchester UK, 1999 GDC No: 75795
    Bhawika was born in Zambia and moved to the UK when she was 11 years old. Bhawika qualified from the University of Manchester in 1999 and began working in Blackpool and throughout the North West, eventually joining us here at {my}dentist Winsford in April 2023. Bhawika enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, though particularly enjoys root canal treatments and extractions. She also undertakes some light cosmetic work including white fillings and prescribing professional home-kit teeth whitening treatments to her patients. Outside of work, Bhawika lives with her partner and son. She has a keen interest in photography, cooking, gardening, travelling, but particularly art and the technique of tangling.
  • Dr.Dyner Edyta Qualified from: Lek Dent Katowice, Poland, 1994 GDC No: 102556
    Edyta qualified from the Silesian Medical Academy in Poland in 1994, going on to complete a postgraduate course and obtaining the title: Specialist in Restorative Dentistry. Edyta joined the dental team at {my}dentist Winsford in 2006. She has completed many advanced courses including: "Smile Design" and "Aesthetic Zone" at King’s College London, "Occlusion in Everyday Dentistry" at the British Dental Association and "Direct Restorations" at Optident International Development Center. Highly committed to a preventive approach to dentistry, Edyta helps her patients attain and retain excellent dental health. Whilst enjoying general dentistry, Edyta is also enjoys offering facial aesthetic treatments. She attends annual conferences and Symposiums so she can offer the latest products and techniques to patients. She is certified to prescribe and administer Botox and dermal fillers, highly trained in Dermaroller micro-needling, Mesotherapy, skincare and chemical peels, and is a member of CMAC (Complications in Medical Aesthetics). Edyta has a keen interest in providing a natural look to the patient; to preserve a personal beauty using biostimulators and biomodulators. After work, she loves swimming and dancing. She likes active holidays, especially skiing in winter and spending summer sailing. Edyta is married and has a daughter and a son.
  • Dr.Ijaz Hussain Qualified from: MSC 2017, Stat Exam 2009, MFDS RCPS 2005, BDS Peshawar 1996 Pakistan, 1996 GDC No: 176065
    Ijaz studied dentistry at the University of Peshawar, Pakistan qualifying in 1996. After six years in general practice in Pakistan, he came to the UK to further his qualification in dentistry. He has taken up a Senior House Officer Post in various NHS hospital Trusts and in 2005, he completed MFDS, RCPS qualification from Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Glasgow. In 2009, Ijaz passed his ORE examination and completed the Dental Foundation Training in 2010. Ijaz works in general practice with a special interest in Endodontics, completing a Masters degree in 2017 at the University of Chester. Ijaz has the privilege of working in Manchester Dental Hospital as a Specialty Dentist in the Endodontology department, meaning he is experienced in complex endodontics. Ijaz provides endodontic treatment on referral in general practice and is consulted by colleagues on issues around Endodontics. In addition, he is currently working as a Clinical Teaching Fellow in Endodontics at the University of Manchester; supervising qualified dentists in their training to be Endodontists. As a member of the British Endodontic Society (BES), he regularly attends seminars, conferences and undertakes postgraduate courses to keep up to date on developments in the field of dentistry and Endodontics.
  • Dr.Rija Siddiqui Qualified from: BDS Pakistan, 2018 GDC No: 298295
    Rija was born and raised in Pakistan, qualifying from the Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi in 2018 and then moving to the UK later that year. Due to COVID, Rija was unable to take her ORE exam until 2023 to practice as a dentist in the UK, so to keep her skills in top-shape she worked as a dental nurse and then a hygienist which developed her passion for helping people gain confidence in their smile. After completing her ORE, Rija joined the team in Winsford where she enjoys aesthetic and restorative dentistry, but also oral surgery such as extractions. Rija also offers Philips Zoom and Enlighten teeth whitening to bring bright white smiles, and very soon wants to expand her knowledge to offer further aesthetic treatment to her patients. Outside of work, Rija has a spirit for adventure and enjoys swimming, gym, photography, exploring new places, and eating at different restaurants and cafes, all of which is made better by the company of her young daughter.
  • Dr.Samuel David Cope Qualified from: BDS University of Liverpool UK, 2019 GDC No: 283282
    Sam graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2019. He then went on to work at numerous practices providing advanced aesthetic treatments to patients. He strongly believes in furthering his education and has therefore completed a post graduate diploma in restorative dentistry and is a Member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons. Sam always strives to deliver the best quality dentistry and aesthetics to patients and continues to help teach other dentists aesthetic treatments in London at the ‘Freshdental’ Training academy with Monik Vasant. Sam adopts a minimally invasive approach to dentistry and has completed many smile makeovers whilst in London and in the North-West using the align, bleach and bond protocol. He has been practicing facial aesthetics for 4 years and is currently furthering his education by completing the ‘Aesthetics Mastery programme’ with Skin Viva in Manchester as he believes in a holistic approach to smile and facial makeovers. Sam is an experienced provider of Invisalign clear aligners for teeth straightening and completes excellent quality composite veneer work. Away from dentistry, Sam enjoys cycling, mountain climbing, skiing, sky diving and anything that gets the adrenaline pumping.
  • Dr.Sana Adnan Qualified from: UHS 2016 Pakistan, 2008 GDC No: 265320
    Sana graduated from de’Montmorency College of dentistry in 2008 from Pakistan. Completing her ORE in 2016, she began practicing in the UK. In 2019, she was awarded the MFDS diploma from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow. Sana is an experienced and dedicated dentist, with a special interest in Aesthetic and Cosmetic dentistry, who is committed to working with her patients’ best interest at heart. With a passion to excel and provide high quality treatments, she has completed Level 7 PGCert RCS in Aesthetics and is currently completing a PGdiploma in Aesthetic and PGcert in Restorative dentistry from Tipton Training. Sana regularly completes Advanced Smile Makeover courses for Composite Bonding and Veneers using the revolutionary Digital Smile Design including Smilefast. As a highly skilled and accredited ClearCorrect provider, similar to Invisalign, Sana enjoys teeth straightening treatment, though is also an Enlighten teeth whitening expert, seeing amazing teeth whitening results. In 2023, she finished training in Facial Aesthetics at SkinViva and began offering filler and anti-wrinkle treatments to provide natural refreshed look to patients. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family. She enjoys shopping and cooking and is fluent in English, Urdu and Punjabi.
  • Dr.Sara Adel Helmy Aziz Qualified from: Exam 2012 BDS Alexandria Egypt, 2005 GDC No: 236893
    Sara graduated from Alexandria University in 2006. She completed the Overseas Registration Examination and has practiced in the UK since 2012. In 2014, Sara gained dental membership in the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (MFDS RCPS (Glasg)). Sara is a talented dentist, skilled in treating nervous patients and young children, with certificates in cognitive behavioural management. Sara has a keen interest in cosmetic and restorative dentistry using minimally invasive techniques. Witnessing the tremendous effect of restorative and cosmetic dentistry on people’s smiles and confidence, she completed an MSc in restorative and cosmetic dentistry at the University of Manchester in 2020. Sara loves teeth straightening treatments as an Elite provider of ClearCorrect clear aligners (similar to Invisalign) and offers clear fixed braces with Six Month Smiles. Sara also provides hand-sculpted composite veneers and complex mouth restorations, priding herself as a dentist who pays attention to the details and maintains the highest standards. In 2023, Sara began offering a variety of facial aesthetics treatments to her patients, providing a holistic approach to cosmetic treatment plans where required. Sara speaks fluent English, Arabic and French. Outside of work, Sara loves spending time with her family, including her three children.
  • Dr.Stuart Mearns Qualified from: BDS Ncle, United Kingdom, 1991 GDC No: 66967
    Stuart is a veteran of the practice, qualifying as a dentist in December 1991 with a degree from the University of Newcastle before joining {my}dentist Winsford in January 1992. He still treats many patients he treated when he began his career, seeing generation after generation of the same family; devoted to looking after patients that he has seen for over 30 years. Stuart offers excellent care and puts all of his patients first, though is particularly mindful of looking after nervous patients and children, all of whom are very pleased to see Stuart for their next appointment. Stuart enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, he also offers in-chair and home-kit whitening to his patients who always see a huge difference in results under his expert guidance. Outside of work, Stuart is happily married and loves spending time with his wife and son. He also thoroughly enjoys outdoor sports including cycling and hiking, though he used to also enjoy rock climbing in his younger years.
  • Dr.Veselin Bachvarov Qualified from: Doctor of Dental Medicine, Sofia 2006 Sofia, 2010 GDC No: 190276
    Ves qualified in Sofia in 2006, working in a private practice in Bulgaria until 2010 when he moved to Newton Abbot in Devon to practice dentistry in the UK. Ves joined the team at Winsford in 2018. Over his career, Ves has taken a keen interest in endodontic and periodontal treatments, achieving a diploma in root canal treatment and a certificate in periodontology. In 2014, he enrolled on a 3 year MSc postgraduate programme in Endodontology to further his skills. In 2023, Ves began taking referrals for complex endodontics (root canal treatment), treating patients from Winsford and other local practices. Ves is also the practice extraction champion, offering comfortable non-surgical extractions to his patients and a private alternative to the waiting lists of other dentists and the NHS. Ves enjoys providing cosmetic treatment with both composite and porcelain veneers. Outside of dentistry, Ves is married and enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He loves a relaxing holiday, however, to feel energised he thoroughly enjoys powerlifting.
  • Miss.Amelia Venice Neild Qualified from: BDS University of Manchester UK, 2018 GDC No: 281272
    Amelia graduated from the University of Manchester in 2018, joining one of our Winsford practices soon after and following us into our 2022 merge. Amelia is skilled in all manners of general dentistry, always wanting to provide treatment that offers the best clinical outcomes for her patients. Amelia is one of our Invisalign providers, offering teeth straightening with clear aligners to aid cosmetic and oral wellbeing. Amelia also enjoys other aspects of cosmetic dentistry including composite bonding, porcelain veneers, and crowns. For patients concerned about their overall facial appearance, Amelia is able to offer anti-wrinkle injections to help patients achieve full confidence.
  • Miss.Gemma Fearon Qualified from: BDS Manc United kingdom, 2014 GDC No: 251760
    Gemma graduated from the University of Manchester in 2014 and worked in one of our Winsford practices for a number of years before our 2022 merger . With patient care as her top priority, Gemma offers a very comfortable clinical environment to ensure patients are relaxed and happy with any required treatment. As well as general dentistry, Gemma takes a particular interest in teeth whitening and offers Philips Zoom and premium Enlighten teeth whitening home kits to her patients including in-chair treatments for patients that desire an instant result. Gemma also offers ClearCorrect clear aligners to her patients who are looking for teeth straightening options. Gemma returned from maternity leave in October 2023 and is very excited to be back treating her patients!
  • Miss.Laura Woods (Therapist) Qualified from: BSc (Hons) Dental Therapy UK, 2022 GDC No: 303147
    Laura's career in dentistry began in a busy private practice in Warrington as a Dental Nurse. This inspired Laura to study further, graduating from The University of Liverpool in 2022 with a BSc in Dental Hygiene and Therapy, joining the team in Winsford shortly after. In her role as a dental therapist, Laura works closely with the dentists on a referral basis to provide treatment for patients who need general dentistry solutions such as fillings or cleans, allowing patients to be treated in a timely manner whilst receiving the highest quality of dental care. Laura loves helping patients improve their oral health and giving them the confidence to look after their own teeth. In September 2023, Laura began treating a number of our private hygiene patients, including patients on our monthly hygiene plan. Outside of work, Laura enjoys going to the gym, travelling and settling down with the latest Netflix series.
  • Miss.Nehan Aleem Khan Qualified from: Grado en Odontologia Universidad Europea De Madrid Spain, 2022 GDC No: 303437
    Nehan was born in Pakistan, though later moved to Saudi Arabia and in 2009 came to the UK. With both parents working as doctors, and a passion for science and medicine, Nehan was inspired to become a dentist, graduating from the European University of Madrid in 2022. Joining the team in Winsford in February 2023, Nehan enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, but also offers home teeth whitening with Philips Zoom and Enlighten premium whitening to patients who want to achieve a whiter and brighter smile. Outside of work, Nehan is happily married and loves spending time with family and friends, whether that be at a restaurant or seeing a movie. She also doesn’t mind a little bit of Indian dancing!
  • Mr.Hussameldien Hussien (Dental Implant Surgeon) Qualified from: BDS Sudan, 2010 GDC No: 246164
    Hussam works as the Clinical Development Advisor for Implants for {my}dentist. Naturally, he is experienced in dental implants, but also offers complete smile makeovers with veneers, teeth straightening with ClearCorrect clear aligners and Six Month Smiles clear braces. Hussam aims to offer nothing short of the highest quality of dental care to his patients. Hussam graduated in 2010 and has gained a Masters in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry from the University of Manchester in 2017. He has attended the Dental Implant Diploma by the Royal College of Surgeons, with emphasis on maintaining consistent and predictable high-quality results, using advanced and up to date practices. He was awarded the diploma of Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh, as well as the diploma of the Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. He is also a member of the International Team of Implantology (ITI) and is a founding member of the College of General Dentistry. After achieving a postgraduate certificate in Clinical Education from the University of Edinburgh, Hussam engaged in clinical teaching for overseas dentists, along with dentists in the North West Deanery. Outside of work, Hussam loves spending time with his wife and four young daughters.
  • Mr.James Harry Sanderson Smith Qualified from: BDS University of Sheffield UK, 2022 GDC No: 302149
    James was born and grew up in Crewe, choosing to study dentistry at the University of Sheffield and graduating in June 2022. He then completed his Dental Foundation Training in Crewe before joining the team here in Winsford in January 2024. James has a particular passion for the prevention of dental diseases, though he also enjoys oral surgery and providing dentures. He finds no greater joy than when an anxious patient leaves with a smile on their face. James is also a provider of Philips Zoom and Enlighten teeth whitening kits for his patients who are searching for that whiter, brighter smile. In his spare time, James loves to travel and to explore different cultures from around the world. He also loves to dance, though you probably wouldn’t quite describe him as the next Michael Jackson. To relax, James will find the next binge-worthy series to watch and is always happy to take recommendations from his patients.
  • Mrs.Maria Isabel Roque Pires Qualified from: Universidad de Santiago de Compostela Spain, 2002 GDC No: 81762
    Isabel is very proud to be Portuguese born and bred, though she studied dentistry in Spain, graduating in 2002 from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She moved to the UK in 2003 to practice dentistry, offering a wide range of treatment options to NHS patients and for patients wanting private cosmetic work. She completed her MJDF examination in 2015. Isabel works at our {my}dentist practice and others throughout the North West. She has a special interest in endodontic treatment (root fillings), and also provides short-term orthodontic treatment with ClearCorrect clear braces, which is similar to Invisalign, to bring patients confidence in their smiles with straight teeth. Outside of work, Isabel enjoys spending time with her partner and two young children.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a fixed solution for missing teeth that are the closest possible replacement for natural teeth. They involve one or more titanium screws being inserted into your jawbone to mimic a natural tooth root. Dental crowns are securely attached to these to fill the gaps in your mouth. Because dental implants are securely anchored in your jaw you’ll have the confidence to comfortably eat whatever you like.

  • Consultation Your initial consultation will be with either our Implant Surgeon or Treatment Coordinator (TCO), who can discuss the different types of implants, single or multiple depending on your need. Following this there may be a need for a more clinical focused consultation.

  • Diagnostic Scans We will carry out a number of digital scans, to build a digital 3D model of your mouth so we can get a clear picture of the area we will place the implant, and a more detailed X-ray using a Cone Beam Computer Tomography scanner so that our Implant surgeon can assess the state of the bone below the gum to get a really clear picture of your treatment need.

  • Treatment Plan Once our experienced implant surgeon has assessed all of you scans they will explain the nature of your treatment, the stages involved and costs. We offer flexible payment options to make implants even more affordable.

  • Commence Treatment Once you are happy we will begin treatment. The length and numbers of appointments will vary depending on the complexity of your particular need, but your Implant Surgeon will have detailed all of this in your treatment plan.

  • Implant Placed Once the implant(s) are placed it may be necessary it might be necessary to allow time for healing before attaching the replacement teeth. Once we are happy the implant has healed we will arrange a series of appointments to fabricate the replacement teeth.

  • Aftercare Your Implant Surgeon will advise you about looking after your implant and may well give you some painkillers to help with the pain over the days after your surgery as well as detailed advice about cleaning the implants and the teeth attached to them.

Chemical peel

Alpha hydroxyl acids are commonly used for superficial chemical peels. Glycolic acid is one of our most popular treatments and takes 20 minutes to complete. Skin will feel immediately fresh and hydrated after a treatment.

Acid exfolitation removes superficial dead cells, promotes rejuvenation and stimulates collagen in the dermis. This is all scientifically proven and effective to promote skin health.

Skin issues that peels can treat are:

Procedure

During the treatment the skin will be thoroughly cleansed and prepped to allow optimal penetration of the acid. Protective barrier cream is placed around highly sensitive areas like the lips and eye region. The acid is brushed onto the face for up to 5 minutes.

The acid is neutralised thoroughly and cooling towels placed on the face. Hydrating PHA cream and vitamin-enriched serum is massaged into the skin, with a final SPF cream for protection. There is a risk of redness and irritation, but redness and tingling will usually subside after 1-2 hours. Most people will be able to walk out of the clinic fresh faced without any signs of treatment. If stronger acid peels are used there may be more sustained side effects.

Advice

Patients are advised to avoid shaving 24 hours after the procedure and avoid the gym and sauna for 48 hours.

Specific skincare products will be advised. If you use these in conjunction with your chemical peels you will see enhanced results.

Chemical peels improve skin health and using these in combination with facial aesthetic treatments will give you natural optimal results.

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy involves puncturing the skin lightly with microinjections whilst adding a skin boosting product.The technique of administration varies however, the technique focuses on the superficial layers of the skin with minimal bruising and bleeding. The action of the minor trauma of the skin allows for cell signalling, this causes a cascade of cellular stimulation which helps in skin rejuvenation. The fibroblasts cells which produce collagen infiltrate the areas which cause the renewal of collagen in the area.

As your facial contour changes with collagen , elastin and bone depletion, natural hyaluronic acid can be injected into the areas of deficiency.

This process happens with age and dermal fillers can not only replace lost volume but can also stimulate the production of collagen improving the quality of your skin over time. The procedure requires an intimate knowledge of facial anatomy and location of blood vessels but also an artistic hand to create a beautiful natural shape.

The type of filler used is a temporary product, they differ in viscosity and can stay in the skin from 3-12 months depending on the appropriate product chosen. Belotero and Juvederm are popular products and create a smooth homogenous effect when injected.

Lip injections with fillers is an art form, an eye for what is beautiful and natural is essential. With delicate instrumentation, lip filler injections can be painless, especially with the aid of local anaesthetic and instruments such as the Midas Touch which reduces pain. Advanced injectors of dermal filler use a cannula technique to administer fillers. This means a small port hole is created near the lip and a blunt ended cannula is used to place dermal filler into the lip. There are significant benefits to this rather than using a sharp needle. Bleeding and bruising are significantly reduced, vessels, nerves and vital structures are protected. Using this cannula technique lip fillers can be done with minimal downtime and very little signs they have taken place.

Toxin injections

Botulinum type A toxin is a purified protein used to temporarily reduce the contraction of muscles causing the overlying skin to wrinkle. The most common area to use this treatment is the upper face region; frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet around the eyes.

Many patients request this treatment when frown lines become noticeable. The area treated in between the eyebrows is called the glabella. If lightly treated we can create a very natural look, where no-one can notice that treatment has been carried out. The frown line does not get a chance to embed further and over time it can become less obvious. If requested, there can still be natural movement of the face and eyebrows so you look expressive and natural. Crows feet can be treated delicately around the eye region. The lines can be smoothed out well and in some instances where dark circles and lines are below the eye, these can be softened. If eye bags are established, fluid filled toxin injections will not be effective. Smoothing the crows feet too much can make the eye bags look more noticable. At the consultation this will be ascertained.

The forehead muscle can be very active in some people. Lines are effectively softened in this area, it is important however to ensure the correct dosage and balance of toxin is used so we do not get a brow drop, where there is heaviness of the brow or drooping.

With expert knowledge and a precise eye this is preventable in many cases.

The specific placement of toxin injectables in the forehead allows for brows to be lifted to create an arch form, or raise them to open the eye. This is more often known as a brow lift. We can also correct asymmetry where eyebrows are in different positions.

Treatments can be tailored for patients who want a more natural look. This is common for patients who are unsure about having invasive treatments. As these toxin injections are prescription medications and used in expert hands, patients should feel confident in the knowledge they are in the best and safest care possible.

How Does it Work?

The toxin works by blocking the transmission of chemical messengers from the nerve to the muscle. This can be a mild, moderate or severe reduction in movement depending on the individual requirements.

Does it hurt?

A very fine needle is used and this treatment does not require any local anaesthetic. Many clients find it as tolerable as waxing or threading. Patients that are concerned with pain or needles may opt for using a topical anaesthetic cream before the procedure.

Before Treatment

This treatment is not to be undertaken by pregnant or breast feeding women, any person taking anti-coagulatant therapy or sufferers of certain neuromuscular conditons.

Before treatment avoid medication which may increase risk of bruising and limit alcohol intake.

After Treatment

You will be advised to keep the targeted or affected muscles active for an hour and to avoid heat or cold temperatures, vigorous exercise, lying down or leaning over for 4-6 hours. The day after treatment, expression should be kept to a minimum and facial treatments should be avoided for 2 weeks.

After treatment it is expected that you will start to see improvement within 2 or 3 days. For some people it may take longer. The full results may be judged at 2-3 weeks. You will be invited to attend a review appointment at 2-3 weeks where the success of the treatment may be assessed and adjusted to your personal treatment plan if necessary.

How long will it last?

Results tend to last 3-5 months. Movement will begin recovering after 8 weeks, frequent treatment intervals of less than 3 months are not recommended. Repeating treatments when movement recovers will deliver optimum results over time.

Preventative Toxin Injections

Use of toxin injections in patients with minimal lines can be beneficial. Using tiny doses of toxin can subtly soften developing lines and wrinkles giving the skin a healthy, radiant look.

Mens skin

Texture and Thickness. Men have thicker, tougher skin caused by testosterone production. This is approximately 25% thicker than women’s. The thicker skin can make the wrinkles under the eyes look more pronounced.

The skin also has a rougher texture, however the androgens cause the skin to be more resistant to ageing. Facial hair which if shaved regularly can cause the skin to be sensitive and can often suffer from shaving bumps.

Hydration

Men have larger pores, increased sweat and lactic production than women. Increased sebum production after puberty accounts for longer lasting acne compared to women. Larger pores and increased sebum production allows for more congestion and blackheads. The increased amount of sweat produced and larger pores mean they are prone to bacterial infection and acne. Men do have more hydrated skin, probably due to the natural humectant effect of sebum and lactic acid.

Sweat production is more excessive in men and this can be localised to under the arm, in the armpit region.

Collagen and sun damage

Men have higher collagen density than women. This essentially means men look younger than women over time. What has been observed by experts is men on the whole do not protect their skin from sun damage. This UV damage negates the benefit of increased collagen.
