We’re incredibly pleased to say that one of our practices is officially home to the Dentist of the Year!
Dr Gary Stacey of mydentist Oliver’s House Advanced Oral Health Centre in Sunderland recently scooped the title at this year’s Dental Awards which were held in Birmingham.
An experienced dentist of more than 35 years, Dr Stacey impressed the judges with his drive for excellence in the field of dental implants at his practice. He is able to take on the most complex of cases, helping transform people’s smiles and boost their confidence through dental implant surgery.
He is a well-known and familiar face to patients in the North East having worked at various practices in the region before joining Oliver’s in 2004.
Dr Stacey has also spent much of his career helping others develop professionally and now acts as a mentor for other dentists working towards qualifications in dental implant surgery.
The Dental Awards are recognised as the leading awards for UK clinicians and are run by The Probe magazine, the UK’s oldest independent dental journal. Gary received his award in a ceremony hosted by TV comedian Zoe Lyons.
Dr Stacey said: “I feel it is a great honour to win this award especially as it is given by the industry I work in.
“It is not an award just for me but for the whole team as I could not do what I do without their backing and support, especially as they all strive to deliver high quality care and treatment.”
Steve Melton, mydentist managing director, added : “Gary is incredibly well-respected in our business for his excellence in complex dental implant surgery and his caring nature, both in the reassurance of patients and mentoring of staff.
“Patients and staff at Oliver’s have known for years that Gary is a brilliant dentist and we’re very proud this has been recognised nationally.”
There was further success for the North East at the Dental Awards as the judges in the Young Dentist of the Year category commended Michael Hicks of mydentist Dean Road, South Shields. As well as general dentistry at the practice and training future dentists as the dental school, Michael has recently helped reduce local waiting times for oral surgery by launching a clinic one day a week at mydentist Dean Road.
