mydentist introduces enhanced family-friendly benefits for colleagues

At mydentist, we know that taking care of our people helps them take care of millions of patients every year.

That is why we are significantly enhancing our family-friendly benefits from October 2026, alongside continued investment in pay, development and wellbeing for colleagues across our 500+ practices and Support Centre.

The new benefits package includes 13 weeks at full pay for maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, in addition to statutory leave entitlement. Paternity leave will also be doubled, increasing from two weeks at statutory pay to four weeks at full pay.

The enhanced leave package will be available to all eligible colleagues across mydentist, supporting more of our people to spend important time with their families when it matters most.

Investing in our people

This announcement forms part of our continued commitment to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported and able to thrive.

This year, mydentist has invested £6 million in colleague pay, including an above-inflation 3% uplift for all colleagues within our pay bands, with nurse pay differentials maintained across the scales. Over the last three years, this brings our total investment in colleague pay to more than £23 million.

Alongside pay and family-friendly leave, we are continuing to invest in areas that colleagues have told us matter to them. This includes:

  • A new appraisal process, currently in its final pilot phase with more than 1,000 colleagues, which will go live on Workday at the start of the new financial year
  • Extending the Unmind mental health and wellbeing platform to a further 750 colleagues, including head nurses, head receptionists and Support Centre team leaders
  • A 20% increase in the professional development budget for qualified dental nurses, more than doubling this investment over two years
  • Continued investment in Practice Managers, building on the relaunch of Practice Manager induction in 2025 with targeted training and closer working between operations and clinical teams

Supporting colleagues at work and at home

For mydentist, this investment is about more than individual benefits. It reflects a wider commitment to listening to colleagues, responding to the areas that matter most to them and creating an environment where people can build sustainable, rewarding careers.

By enhancing family-friendly leave, increasing investment in pay and expanding support for development and wellbeing, mydentist is continuing to strengthen the support available to colleagues across its practices and Support Centre.

Libby Jones, Chief People Officer at mydentist, commented: “Our people are the heart of everything we do at mydentist. Whether they are caring for patients in a practice, supporting colleagues from our Support Centre or managing one of our 500+ practices across the country, they make this organisation what it is. These changes are a deliberate choice to back them with fair pay, with the time they need to be with their families, and with the development and wellbeing support they have asked us for. We are listening, and we are investing.”

Libby Jones continued: “We know there is always more to do, and we will keep listening. But today’s announcement is a clear statement of where we are heading. The dental sector has historically lagged behind on family-friendly benefits, and we are determined to set a new standard not just for mydentist colleagues, but for the wider profession.”

Nilesh Pandya, Chief Executive Officer at mydentist, commented: “How an employer treats its people is one of the most telling things you can know about it. We have over 7,000 colleagues and a network of more than 3,000 dental associates across the UK, and the standards we set for how we look after them shape the experience of every one of the four million patients we treat each year. The changes announced today are about doing right by the people who make mydentist work and about raising the bar for what colleagues across UK dentistry should expect.”
