Welcome to {my}dentist Halifax, a practice boasting 17 surgery rooms based on the ground floor of Broad Street Plaza and a 1-minute walk from Halifax bus station. Our state-of-the-art facility which opened in 2019 is the largest in the {my}dentist portfolio enabling us to offer a wide variety of treatments options to our patients. We offer NHS, Private and {my}options dentistry at the practice. With over 30 highly skilled clinicians equipped with the latest technology including a CBCT and Intra Oral Scanner, we are able to offer treatments such as Dental Implants, Specialist Orthodontics, clear aligners such as Invisalign and ClearCorrect, Enlighten Whitening, Composite Bonding and Root Canal treatments. We also provide hygiene treatments for all existing and direct access patients helping to maintain good oral hygiene and to prevent gum disease. The practice benefits from two designated Treatment Coordinators who are here to ensure a seamless patient journey is followed for all our private patients. "I was referred to many dentists due to a difficult tooth extraction needed as the tooth had broken at the back of my mouth. I was really worried about having this tooth out even though I was having infections in my mouth because of it. I need not have worried at all. Dr Asif Maqbool was brilliant. Reassuring, listened to my worries, took his time and all in all the process lasted a few minutes due to his expertise. I can't thank him enough for his skill and professionalism. Dr.Allan Irving Taylor (Orthodontist) Qualified from: BChD University of Leeds 1982 United Kingdon, 1982 GDC No: 57134

Dr Allan Taylor graduated from the University of Leeds with a BChD in 1982 and is on the Specialist Orthodontist List of the UK General Dental Council. He is also a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists, and a member of the British Orthodontic Society. He has been providing orthodontic treatment in Halifax since 1993; offering the latest appliances available from removable to fixed, including: Invisalign, ClearCorrect, fixed metal, fixed Iconix, fixed ceramic, and lingual braces. He sees a wide variety of patients of all ages who wish to begin their orthodontic journey. In his spare time, Dr Taylor enjoys travelling the UK and abroad, photography, walking and the theatre. Dr Taylor is a valued member of the {my}dentist Halifax team and he looks forward to seeing you. He also welcomes referrals from dental colleagues who are local to Halifax.

Barzy is an Elite Invisalign Go provider based in central Halifax and Leeds. A graduate of the prestigious Bespoke Smile Academy based in London, his expertise lies in teeth straightening and smile makeovers, bringing a renewed sense of confidence to his patients by providing great smiles. Mudassar graduated from the University of Manchester, attaining honours in 3 out of the 5 years he studied there. Alongside this, he won the Edgar Houghton Operative Dentistry Prize for the technically best finals clinical case upon graduating. He ranked in the top 2% of the country during national recruitment and worked in his hometown of Rochdale for his vocational training. After completing his training, he spent the following year working as a core trainee in oral and maxillofacial surgery in five different hospitals expanding his surgical repertoire. In 2017, Mudassar successfully attained the prestigious MFDS qualification from Royal Collage of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. His further education has taken him from Harley Street to Germany and he is now in the process of studying for the 'gold standard' Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal Collage of Surgeons of England, ensuring he keeps up to date with the latest technology, evidence and skills necessary to preform implant dentistry to the highest level. He now works in multiple practices carrying out general and cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, intravenous sedation (for nervous patients) and dental implantology.

Dr Naveed Hussain graduated from the University of Leeds in 2016 with a Bachelors in Dental Surgery. He then went on to study a Masters degree gaining a Merit in his Masters and a Distinction in his research. He presented his Masters research at the National Conference of the British Prosthodontic Society. He then completed his Foundation Training in the competitive London scheme. Following this, he completed a surgical residency in Brazil and a 2 years Masters programme in Dental Implantology, graduating with a Distinction. Dr Naveed has also had research published within the European Journal of Prosthodontic and Restorative Dentistry. He has completed advanced restorative and surgical training nationally and internationally allowing him to carry out sinus lifts, hard and soft tissue regeneration and full mouth implant-supported rehabilitation treatments. Currently, he works across several practices in Yorkshire as a Dental and Implant Surgeon offering patient-centric, complete and comprehensive care to ensure patient satisfaction, aesthetics and optimal function. Dr Yousif Eltayeb’s dental career began in 2010, and after five years of studying he graduated from the National University in Sudan, completing his Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry in 2015. After graduating, he returned to the UK to pursue his career in dentistry by joining the {my}dentist team in 2018. Since then, Yousif has been developing his keen interests in cosmetic and refining his skills in the area of clear aligner teeth straightening treatments such as Invisalign and ClearCorrect. His calm and reassuring manner allows nervous patients to feel relaxed and at ease within the dental environment. Yousif has a passion for dentistry particularly teeth straightening and teeth replacement and loves nothing more than to make his patient’s dream smiles, a reality.

At graduation Lisa was given awards for academic excellence and skills in paediatric dentistry and has continued these interests into her career at {my}dentist. She is passionate about promoting oral hygiene and preventative dentistry as well as supporting our youngest patients through their dental treatments. She has done many post graduate courses to extend her knowledge including dental whitening, further periodontal training and additional restorative courses to keep up to date with current best practice and research. In her spare time Lisa enjoys spending time with her three young children, looking after her chickens and starting to grow fruit and vegetables in her garden.

Halima qualified as an Orthodontic Therapist from the Royal College Of Surgeons Edinburgh in 2019. Also in that time Halima did Dental Radiography. At the practice, Halima works closely with our Orthodontist Dr Allan Taylor. She loves seeing and making our patient's confidence grow with their smiles and nothing makes her happier than making and seeing other people smile - so Halima is clearly in the right job! She is fortunate enough to do some charity work and sponsor orphans. Halima truly believes the best of us are those who bring greater benefits to others. Spending time with family and friends is what Halima enjoys most of all.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a fixed solution for missing teeth that are the closest possible replacement for natural teeth. They involve one or more titanium screws being inserted into your jawbone to mimic a natural tooth root. Dental crowns are securely attached to these to fill the gaps in your mouth. Because dental implants are securely anchored in your jaw you’ll have the confidence to comfortably eat whatever you like.

Consultation Your initial consultation will be with either our Implant Surgeon or Treatment Coordinator (TCO), who can discuss the different types of implants, single or multiple depending on your need. Following this there may be a need for a more clinical focused consultation.
Diagnostic Scans We will carry out a number of digital scans, to build a digital 3D model of your mouth so we can get a clear picture of the area we will place the implant, and a more detailed X-ray using a Cone Beam Computer Tomography scanner so that our Implant surgeon can assess the state of the bone below the gum to get a really clear picture of your treatment need.
Treatment Plan Once our experienced implant surgeon has assessed all of you scans they will explain the nature of your treatment, the stages involved and costs. We offer flexible payment options to make implants even more affordable.
Commence Treatment Once you are happy we will begin treatment. The length and numbers of appointments will vary depending on the complexity of your particular need, but your Implant Surgeon will have detailed all of this in your treatment plan.
Implant Placed Once the implant(s) are placed it may be necessary it might be necessary to allow time for healing before attaching the replacement teeth. Once we are happy the implant has healed we will arrange a series of appointments to fabricate the replacement teeth.
Aftercare Your Implant Surgeon will advise you about looking after your implant and may well give you some painkillers to help with the pain over the days after your surgery as well as detailed advice about cleaning the implants and the teeth attached to them.

Clinically safe

All mydentist patients have their treatment overseen by a UK registered dentist. We will make sure that your teeth and overall oral health are in good shape before we start teeth straightening and check in with you regularly to make sure that the treatment is progressing as planned. That means you can rest assured that at the end of treatment your teeth will look and feel great. All of our practices are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the UK’s healthcare governing body, and are subject to the strictest clinical protocols.
