Welcome to {my}dentist Chequer Lane, Ely. We are a 6-surgery practice providing a variety of NHS, private and {my}options treatment plans including Invisalign Go, facial aesthetics, teeth whitening and implants. Within our team we have Dr Roshan John and Dr Vanessa Rodrigues. Roshan graduated as a Dentist in 2003 and continues to develop his industry knowledge and skills and is trained in Invisalign Go. Vanessa is skilled in Implantology as well as having a special interest in facial aesthetics. For more clinician information head over to the ‘Meet the Team’ section on our website. Our practice is a 4 minute walk from W Fen Road bus stop and a 15 minute walk from Ely train station, with side street parking available We welcome all patients to our practice and ensure all individuals are treated with the utmost care and attention from our highly skilled staff.   • Dr .Ana Claudia Soares (Odontoart Limited) Qualified from: LMD Porto, 2007 GDC No: 245393
    Claudia graduated in Dental Medicine in Portugal in 2007 and moved to the UK in 2013 and has since then been working in a mixed NHS and Private Practice in Manchester and Cambridgeshire. Claudia is a general dentist with special interests in cosmetic dentistry, whitening and Implant restorations. Dentistry for Claudia is a way to change people’s lives, bringing her patients health and the confidence to smile. Claudia has graduated in two different Orthodontic courses. One in Portugal in 2009 and another in Madrid, Spain in 2016. Claudia then completed her Invisalign (clear aligners) training in 2017. In 2009 Claudia completed a post graduate course in Implants and Implant restoration in Portugal, following on with several advanced courses in the Aesthetic Dentistry in the UK to improve her skills in Composite Bonding, Veneers and Crowns.

    Dr Antonio Luis Da Silva Arezes qualified from CESPU University, Porto, Portugal in 2005. Luis enjoys many different aspects of dentistry especially restorative and cosmetic dentistry including white aesthetic fillings, tooth whitening, crowns and veneers. Luis always aspires to deliver the highest possible level of professional dental care with a very friendly and approachable manner. Luis joined Chequer Hall in January 2022 quickly becoming a valued member of the team. Luis is passionate about making his patient journey as comfortable as possible, ensuring he puts his patients at ease. In his spare time, Luis enjoys football and reading, as well as spending time with his young family in Portugal.
  • Dr.Domingos Mamede (Dental Implant Surgeon) Qualified from: LMD, PgCert, LFHom (Portugal/UK) Portugal, 2007 GDC No: 174030
    Domingos graduated in Dental Medicine in Portugal in 2007. Since then, he post graduated in Medical Legal Sciences (2008) and did further training in Cosmetic Dentistry in Los Angeles (UCLA-2013) and Dental Implantology at Trafford Hospital in Manchester, UK (2010). He has a Masters (MSc) in Dental Implantology from Edge Hill University, UK. Domingos is also a {my}dentist trained Clinical Mentor for other dentists. Whilst knowledgeable in all areas of dentistry, Dom’s passion is in Implant Dentistry, regularly attending courses to further his knowledge and keep up to date with new techniques. Dom accepts referrals for Implants, from simple to complex and full arch cases. He also accepts referrals for private extractions. Domingos won Young Dentist of the Year 2018 and again in 2019.
  • Dr.Joao Pedro Monteiro Borges Qualified from: LMD Lisbon 2004 Portugal , 2004 GDC No: 84286
    Joao graduated from Universidade Fernando Pessoa, Porto, Portugal in 2004 and came to the UK in 2005, where he worked as an associate in Wales and the South East of the UK, before moving to the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire area. Joao completed his diploma in Endodontics at Warwick University in 2015 and is a member of the British Endodontics Society. Joao joined Chequer Hall in 2020, accepting referrals for private endodontic treatments. He currently provides private endodontic treatments in various other practices in East Anglia. Joao enjoys spending time with his young family and loves to keep himself fit by running.
  • Dr.Mihaela Dobre Qualified from: Tandläkare Sweden, 1999 GDC No: 78968
    Dr. Mihaela Dobre graduated in 1999 from Malmö Tandvårdshögskolan in Sweden and started her career in Rome, Italy. She worked in a large practice in central Rome where she developed an interest in aesthetical dentistry. In 2001 she moved to UK, and started working in Doncaster where she practiced for 11 years in a busy NHS practice. She joined Chequer Hall Dental Practice in Ely in 2012. Mihaela enjoys delivering all aspects of dentistry and is especially enthusiastic about Invisalign and restorative dentistry. In her spare time Mihaela enjoys spending time with her young family, reading, travelling and interior design.

    Dr Vanessa Rodrigues LMD Portugal 2008 Dental Implants UK 2014 Cosmetic Dentistry 2014, 2015, 2018 Chequer Hall Dental Practice, Ely Vanessa graduated in Dental Medicine from FMDUP 2008, in Portugal. Since, she subsequently did volunteer dental work in the Air force Dental Hospital, Peru for almost 9 months before returning back to her country, Portugal and completed a qualification in Aesthetic Dentistry. After practicing in Portugal for a few years, in 2012, she moved to the UK and worked in Newcastle and Manchester where she completed a Dental Implantology Diploma in Trafford Hospital 2014. Vanessa has now worked as a General Dentist and Implantologist Dentist for some years. Vanessa has a special interest in facial aesthetics so as complementary treatment for her patients she decided to start studying facial aesthetics which took her to participate and complete several courses visiting London, Barcelona and Porto. Vanessa is currently attending a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Aesthetics and Injectable Therapies in London. Vanessa enjoys keeping herself fit and spending time travelling with her young family.

    Ina graduated from the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences in 2014 and started working as a dental hygienist in Vilnius, Lithuania. After practising for 4 years and gaining invaluable experience in Lithuania, she decided to come to the UK in 2018. Ina successfully completed her adaptation period and became a registered dental hygienist in the UK. Ina is passionate about continually improving her skills and increasing her knowledge of the advances in dental hygiene and periodontology (gum diseases). She has most recently attended such events as the EuroPerio10 international periodontology conference in Copenhagen, Denmark and a periodontal course in Italy with Prof. Giulio Rasperini - one of the world leaders in gum diseases. Healthy gums and the beautiful smiles of her patients are the top priorities for Ina.
  • Mrs.Amie Holder (Hygienist) Qualified from: Diploma in Dental Hygiene and Therapy England, 2012 GDC No: 229343
    Amie Holder-Soares is from a small market town in North Yorkshire and moved to Cambridge after university. Cambridge is place that she has grown to love and call it her home. She has been working within dentistry since 2007 initially as a dental nurse which created a passion for oral health which made her further her studies culminating in graduating in dental hygiene and therapy from Sheffield university in 2012. Her main points of interests are maintenance of implants, airflow and periodontal disease. Amie is able to carry out Direct access which enables patients to see her even if they are not a current patient of the practice. Amie is the founder of The Cambridge Hygienist and you can find her accounts on Instagram and Facebook. Outside of work Amie is a super busy mum to Harry and Hattie and wife to Joel. Amie also has a keen interest in Skin and is the founder of Get Lippy Facial Aesthetics and Smile Design where she runs regular clinics with her husband Joel.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a fixed solution for missing teeth that are the closest possible replacement for natural teeth. They involve one or more titanium screws being inserted into your jawbone to mimic a natural tooth root. Dental crowns are securely attached to these to fill the gaps in your mouth. Because dental implants are securely anchored in your jaw you’ll have the confidence to comfortably eat whatever you like.

  • Consultation Your initial consultation will be with either our Implant Surgeon or Treatment Coordinator (TCO), who can discuss the different types of implants, single or multiple depending on your need. Following this there may be a need for a more clinical focused consultation.

  • Diagnostic Scans We will carry out a number of digital scans, to build a digital 3D model of your mouth so we can get a clear picture of the area we will place the implant, and a more detailed X-ray using a Cone Beam Computer Tomography scanner so that our Implant surgeon can assess the state of the bone below the gum to get a really clear picture of your treatment need.

  • Treatment Plan Once our experienced implant surgeon has assessed all of you scans they will explain the nature of your treatment, the stages involved and costs. We offer flexible payment options to make implants even more affordable.

  • Commence Treatment Once you are happy we will begin treatment. The length and numbers of appointments will vary depending on the complexity of your particular need, but your Implant Surgeon will have detailed all of this in your treatment plan.

  • Implant Placed Once the implant(s) are placed it may be necessary it might be necessary to allow time for healing before attaching the replacement teeth. Once we are happy the implant has healed we will arrange a series of appointments to fabricate the replacement teeth.

  • Aftercare Your Implant Surgeon will advise you about looking after your implant and may well give you some painkillers to help with the pain over the days after your surgery as well as detailed advice about cleaning the implants and the teeth attached to them.
