About Denture Excellence

Welcome to {my}dentist Rishworth Street, Wakefield. We are a private practice providing treatments such as veneers, teeth whitening and Fastbraces. Within our team we have Dental Implant Surgeon Melissa Goddard who has completed various implant courses. Gemma’s experience and knowledge allows her to complete simple single tooth or more complex “all on four” full arch restoration techniques. We also have Mr Mark Tinker who specialises in denture work. Our practice is a 1 minute walk from Rishworth Street bus stop and a 6 minute walk from Wakefield Westgate train station, with public parking available opposite the practice. If you have any questions or would like to book in for a consultation the team would love to hear from you. We welcome all patients to our practice and ensure all individuals are treated with the utmost care and attention from our highly skilled staff. We look forward to seeing you soon.

  • Mr.Mark Tinker Qualified from: Dip Clin Dent Rcs Eng United Kingdom, 2008 GDC No: 135019
    Mark enjoys working closely with patients from initial consultation through impression to final fitting. He finds that having the chance to listen and understand his patient’s requirements and concerns and working with the patient through every step, means that the patient gets exactly what they want. Mark was one of the first groups of Clinical Dental Technicians (CDT’s) to be invited to attend the BPS Clinical course in Liechtenstein and was then in the first group of CDTs to be invited to attend the first Swiss Denture Concept course in Switzerland. Mark has completed three implant courses for full arch restorations to follow on from two previous implant courses attended at Kings College, London. Gaining experience since 1977 in making and fitting dentures from the simplest single tooth temporary to the much more complex implant retained dentures and “all on four” full arch restoration techniques, Mark still regularly attends course updates for the best patient outcomes.

    Dr Melissa Goddard is a multi-award-winning dentist of international renown with over 25 years’ experience. She has Special Interest in Orthodontics, Oral Surgery, Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry and has shared this interest, teaching Restorative dentistry at both Liverpool and Sheffield Dental Schools. Melissa is the UK and Europe trainer for Fastbraces, Orthoworld and provides education in this American system to postgraduate dentist from all over the globe. Melissa maintains the highest of standards of patient care and self-development. Melissa is a firm believer that a smile is about more than teeth. Melissa is also an advanced Facial Aesthetics practitioner to ensure every patient is treated holistically, this ensures optimal sympathetic results for all of her patients and is one of the reasons she has achieved a 5-star rating on the national Dental Phobia website. In her free time Melissa enjoys travelling, cooking and spending time with her loved ones.

What are dental implants?
Dental implants are a fixed solution for missing teeth that are the closest possible replacement for natural teeth. They involve one or more titanium screws being inserted into your jawbone to mimic a natural tooth root. Dental crowns are securely attached to these to fill the gaps in your mouth. Because dental implants are securely anchored in your jaw you’ll have the confidence to comfortably eat whatever you like.

Your Treatment Co-ordinator

All dental implant patients are supported by a dedicated treatment co-ordinator, starting with your initial consultation. They will help you understand each stage of the implant process, what to expect, and discuss the various finance options available.

  • Consultation Your initial consultation will be with either our Implant Surgeon or Treatment Coordinator (TCO), who can discuss the different types of implants, single or multiple depending on your need. Following this there may be a need for a more clinical focused consultation.

  • Diagnostic Scans We will carry out a number of digital scans, to build a digital 3D model of your mouth so we can get a clear picture of the area we will place the implant, and a more detailed X-ray using a Cone Beam Computer Tomography scanner so that our Implant surgeon can assess the state of the bone below the gum to get a really clear picture of your treatment need.

  • Treatment Plan Once our experienced implant surgeon has assessed all of you scans they will explain the nature of your treatment, the stages involved and costs. We offer flexible payment options to make implants even more affordable.

  • Commence Treatment Once you are happy we will begin treatment. The length and numbers of appointments will vary depending on the complexity of your particular need, but your Implant Surgeon will have detailed all of this in your treatment plan.

  • Implant Placed Once the implant(s) are placed it may be necessary it might be necessary to allow time for healing before attaching the replacement teeth. Once we are happy the implant has healed we will arrange a series of appointments to fabricate the replacement teeth.

  • Aftercare Your Implant Surgeon will advise you about looking after your implant and may well give you some painkillers to help with the pain over the days after your surgery as well as detailed advice about cleaning the implants and the teeth attached to them.
