I qualified from Newcastle University in 2018, with degrees in Biomedical Sciences as well as Dentistry. I have recently moved back to the North East after going back home after University. I have always wanted to be a dentist and I am committed to constantly improving myself within the profession. I am passionate and proud about the dental services we provide here at Westoe Road. We have a fantastic team here and we like nothing more than winning round a nervous patient, or putting the smile back on someone’s face. I provide both private and NHS treatment here at Westoe Road.

Dr.Jake Thomas

My name is Jake Thomas and I joined the practice in 2012 after graduating from Newcastle dental school. I’m very passionate about dentistry and treating my patients to the highest standard with a very caring approach. I have completed additional training in restorative dentistry and Invisalign orthodontics to offer my patients a wide rang of dental treatments to address all their clinical needs. Outside of dentistry I try and stay active and I’m the captain of a (very unsuccessful) 5 a side team and play in a local competitive league. Im also a bit of a foodie and I like to try different restaurants around the north east.

Dr.Kathryn McCormack

Kathryn graduated from Birmingham University in 1996 and spent the following 10 years working in a family practice in Evesham in the Cotswolds. In 2006 she moved to Leicestershire to work in a private practice before moving back home to Newcastle where she worked as a locum dentist. Kathryn has been happily practising at Westoe Road for the past 13 years- making her one of our longest serving dentists. In 2009 she became a post graduate trainer, a role she held till 2012. During this time, she achieved a Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Professional Practice with distinction. Kathryn offers a range of private treatments and is proud to be a Denture of Excellence brand holder. In her spare time Kathryn enjoys keeping fit and loves to explore different countries, especially her favourite country, Italy.

Dr.Timothy Perowne

I qualified from Newcastle University in 2001. I completed vocational training in Stockton and worked in NHS practice in Middlesbrough before a move to private practice in New Zealand. I started working at Westoe Road Dental Practice in 2006. I became a Member of The Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) at the Royal College of Surgeons in 2008. I am involved in dental education and have been an educational supervisor of dental graduates since 2009 and have previously taught undergraduates at Newcastle Dental School in the restorative department. In my spare time I enjoy running and have completed a number of half marathons.

Miss.Ashley Donald

Ashley qualified in 1989 after studying Dental Hygiene at the Newcastle School of Dental Hygiene at Newcastle University. She began working at Westoe Road in 2004 and very much enjoys working with the amazing team here. Ashley enjoys consulting with the patients and helping them to improve and maintain their oral health, as well as giving them the sparkling smile they desire. Ashley has many long-term patients whom she has known since she first started here in 2004! In her spare time Ashley likes to go for long walks, trips to the theatre, reading a good book and socializing with friends and family.

Miss.Rachel Lydia Strickland

Rachel graduated from King's College London with Honours in all disciplines of dentistry and was awarded the 'Harry Radin' Sedation and Special Care Prize and the 'Geoffrey Foreman' Radiology and Oral Surgery Prize. Rachel has also received the National Endodontic Prize on Dental Trauma from the British Endodontic Society at their Spring Scientific Meeting in March of 2023. Rachel works alternate weeks at Westoe Road practice and the RVI in Newcastle Upon Tyne as part of her two-year post-graduate general professional training. She has recently put roots down in Newcastle and is loving her new life in the North East.

Miss.Verity Wightman

Verity qualified from the University of Newcastle in 2006 with a degree in Biomedical Sciences before changing direction and going on to study Dentistry. She qualified in 2012 and spent the first 5 years at a practice near Durham before joining Westoe Road in 2017. She has a friendly, bubbly approach and particularly enjoys working with nervous patients of all ages and ensuring that patients feel comfortable and confident in coming in for their treatment. Outside of her work in dentistry she enjoys spending as much time as possible outdoors; walking in the Lakes or freezing herself in the North Sea.

Mr.Joshua Jackson

Josh graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2020 with honours and distinctions in Restorative Dentistry, Oral Diseases and Oral Health. He gained seven further awards for achievements ranging from demonstrating the highest standard of operative skill in his year group to achieving the highest marks in examinations. He is particularly passionate about helping and treating anxious patients both adult and children. Josh currently works at Newcastle Dental Hospital on the paediatric department as well as with the team on Saturday and Monday evenings at Westoe Road where he offers a full range of NHS and private treatments including ClearCorrect teeth straightening
Outside of work he enjoys going to football matches, eating out trying new restaurants and travelling abroad.
